The only Rongai- 7 Days Kilimanjaro hiking Route path that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north and is close to the Kenyan border is the Rongai route.. Although this route is gaining popularity among climbers, there are still few crowds. Rongai has a more gradual incline than other routes on the mountain. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the famous Marangu route, for those wanting a more remote hike, and for those Kilimanjaro hiking during the rainy season (the north side gets less rainfall).
Rongai is a route that is relatively challenging and is highly advised, especially for people who have little prior backpacking experience. Although the landscapes are not as diverse as the roads in the west, Rongai compensates by passing through real wilderness areas almost the entire way. The Kilimanjaro hiking descent is via the Marangu route. Burigi Chato Safaris offers Rongai as a 7-day group climb or a 6-day climb. The six-day variant has no acclimatization day on the fourth day at Mawenzi Tarn.
