Day 5: The epic summit day barafu camp to uhuru peak to mweka camp
A day like no other awaits as we set out for the summit - uhuru peak. our journey commences in the early morning hours, around midnight, to ensure we witness the majestic sunrise from the roof of africa. the path to the summit is a test of endurance and spirit, but with determination, we conquer every step. as the sun rises, painting the sky with hues of gold, we stand triumphantly at uhuru peak, the highest point on the continent. the sense of accomplishment and joy is overwhelming, and we celebrate our triumph before descending to mweka camp, located at 3100 meters. total hiking time to the summit: approximately 7-8 hours. the day's total hiking time will be longer due to the summit ascent.

Today, we bid farewell to the mountain and begin our descent to mweka gate, situated at 1680 meters. as we descend through the lush greenery, we reflect on the awe-inspiring journey we undertook and the memories we created. At mweka gate, we proudly receive our certificates, acknowledging our achievement in conquering kilimanjaro. from here, we travel back to moshi, where celebrations await, commemorating the remarkable feat we accomplished together.
