Begin your morning game drive across Mikumi National Park’s open grasslands, acacia woodlands and wildlife-rich tracks. Your guide will select the most productive areas according to recent animal movements and prevailing conditions. The Mkata Floodplain is one of the main wildlife-viewing areas and may provide opportunities to observe elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs and different antelope species. Predators such as lions, leopards and spotted hyenas also inhabit the park, although every sighting depends on natural wildlife movement.

Hippo Pool Visit and Photography Stop|Estimated time: 12:30 p.m.–1:00 p.m.

You will visit the Hippo Pool area, where hippos may be seen resting in the water or gathering around the pool. Crocodiles and water birds may also be observed in this area. Your guide will allow time for photography and explain the behaviour of the animals, the park’s ecosystem and the importance of its permanent water sources.

Picnic Lunch Inside Mikumi National Park|Estimated time: 1:00 p.m.–1:45 p.m.

Enjoy a packed picnic lunch at an authorized picnic site inside the national park. This break gives you time to relax, refresh and discuss the morning’s wildlife sightings with your guide. Drinking water will also be provided. Special dietary requirements should be communicated when making the reservation so that suitable arrangements can be made in advance.

After lunch, continue exploring Mikumi National Park on a private afternoon game drive. The guide may follow different tracks to increase the variety of landscapes and wildlife sightings. You may encounter elephant families moving across the plains, giraffes feeding among acacia trees, buffalo herds resting near water sources or zebras and wildebeests grazing together.
