1 Day Tanzania Safari in June to Tarangire National Park

We typically start our journey at 8:00 AM to ensure we reach the park gate by mid-morning. This schedule allows for roughly six to seven hours of active game viewing before we head back to the city. You will be returned to your hotel or residence by 6:00 PM just as the sun begins to set.

June is the beginning of the dry season, which is one of the best times for spotting these massive mammals. As the surrounding areas dry up, the animals congregate in huge numbers near the Tarangire River. You are very likely to see groups of several hundred individuals gathered together in the riverbed.

While Tarangire is home to lions, leopards, buffaloes, and elephants, rhinos are not residents of this specific park. We can adjust the afternoon schedule to include a brief stop at a local Maasai village near the park boundaries. This interaction allows you to learn about traditional customs and see handmade crafts directly from the community. We recommend wearing light layers because the mornings can be quite chilly before the sun fully rises. Essential items include a wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and a good pair of binoculars to see distant animals. Do not forget your camera and extra memory cards to capture the ancient baobab trees and the wildlife.

The drive from Arusha is relatively short and on paved roads, making it a very comfortable option for seniors. We prioritize your ease of travel and can provide assistance with boarding the vehicle whenever needed. Most of the wildlife viewing happens from the safety and comfort of the 4x4 cruiser.

You can choose to add a short guided nature walk near the park boundaries with an armed ranger for an additional fee. This allows you to experience the African bush on foot and see smaller details like tracks and plants up close. It is a fantastic way to stretch your legs before the drive back to Arusha in the evening.
