The 10-day Kilimanjaro hiking via Northern Circuit Route is a remarkable journey that takes you to the summit of Africa's tallest peak. Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), the warm and welcoming staff of chief photography Safaris will greet you and transfer you to your comfortable accommodation in Moshi, the gateway to your Kilimanjaro hike. Once settled, you'll receive a brief overview of the upcoming expedition, and your hiking gear and equipment will be thoroughly checked to ensure everything is in order. Today, the real adventure begins as we leave Arusha for Londorossi Gate. After completing the necessary entry formalities, we proceed to the Lemosho trailhead. The hike commences through an enchanting rainforest, where you'll witness the untouched beauty of nature. The hike to Forest Camp takes approximately 3-4 hours, covering a distance of 6 km. The hike takes us out of the rainforest and into a captivating savannah adorned with tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock adorned with lichen. As we ascend through rolling hills and cross picturesque streams, we'll reach the Shira Ridge. From here, you'll be treated to a magnificent view of Kibo, the highest peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. Today, we'll spend time exploring the high plateau of Shira, one of the highest plateaus on Earth. The gentle walk will take us closer to Kibo's glaciered peak, and we'll arrive at Shira 2 camp on the picturesque moorland meadows by a tranquil stream. The extensive Lent Hills offer various walking opportunities, perfect for acclimatization. Accommodation: Camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Incorporating a high altitude hike and sleeping at a lower altitude, today's journey aids in the acclimatization process. The morning hike leads to Lava Tower and the iconic Shark's Tooth rock formation at 4,600 meters, where you'll enjoy a well-deserved lunch. Afterward, we head down to the northern circuit and reach Moir Camp at 4,200 meters. Accommodation: Camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Departing from Moir Valley, we take a short walk to reach the summit of Little Lent Hill, offering stunning views. We then head eastwards along the northern circuit path to Buffalo Camp. Today's hike is shorter, and you should now be well acclimatized to the altitude. We hike up the Buffalo Ridge and descend to Porfu Camp for lunch. The route continues east around the northern slopes to Rongai Third Cave at 3,800 meters, where we'll set up camp. Accommodation: Camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, we ascend to The Saddle, offering a lunar panorama between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. We proceed upwards and arrive at School Hut Campsite early in the afternoon, where you can relax and prepare for the summit day. Accommodation: Camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
The most challenging yet rewarding day awaits as we begin our ascent by midnight, using torchlights to guide us. After approximately 5-6 hours of steep hiking over volcanic scree, we'll reach Gilman's Point at 5,685 meters. The journey continues west along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. After relishing the awe-inspiring views and the accomplishment, we retrace our steps to Stella Point and then descend to Barafu Camp for lunch. We continue the descent to Millennium Camp, located at 3,950 meters. Accommodation: Camping Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today marks the final descent as we make our way down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your well-deserved summit certificates. The lower elevations might be wet and muddy, so gaiters and Hike poles will come in handy. From the gate, we continue for another hour to Mweka Village, where our vehicle awaits to drive us back to the Hotel in moshi. You'll have time to relax and reflect on the incredible achievement of reaching the Roof of Africa! Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
