10 Days Kenya Christmas and New Year Wildlife Celebration

Celebrate Christmas and New Year on a 10-day luxury Kenya safari through Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Bogoria, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli.

A private festive safari combining Maasai Mara big cats, Rift Valley lakes, seasonal lodge celebrations and Amboseli elephants.

Celebrate Christmas, welcome the New Year or enjoy the festive period between them on our 10-Day Kenya Christmas and New Year Wildlife Celebration. The package can be scheduled so that one or both major festive dates fall within the journey, depending on your confirmed departure. Three complete Maasai Mara safari days provide lions, elephants, cheetahs and sweeping savannah scenery, while Lake Nakuru adds rhinos and woodland wildlife. Lake Bogoria introduces geothermal landscapes and possible flamingos before Lake Naivasha provides a peaceful festive pause beside the freshwater shoreline. Amboseli completes our tour with elephant families, wetlands and possible Mount Kilimanjaro views. Selected luxury lodges may provide Christmas meals, New Year dinners, decorations, cakes, music or family entertainment, but every property follows its own programme. Our private vehicle keeps couples, families and friends together while allowing celebration schedules to remain flexible.

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Begin Our Festive Safari

Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Begin Our Festive Safari

Your guide will collect you from Nairobi early in the morning because festive traffic may increase around the city and major roads. RELATED FAQS ABOUT 10 Days Kenya Christmas and New Year Wildlife Celebration

    1. Can this ten-day package include both Christmas and New Year?

Yes, when the departure date is selected carefully. The operator should identify exactly where you will stay on December 25 and December 31 before confirming accommodation. Some lodges require peak-season supplements or minimum stays. The final itinerary should make each celebration location clear.

    2. Are Christmas meals and New Year gala dinners included

Not automatically. Some lodges include festive meals within their rates, while others charge compulsory supplements. A gala may include music, entertainment or selected drinks, but each property is different. The quotation must explain the exact inclusions.

    3. Will every lodge have decorations?

No. Some properties provide extensive decorations and family entertainment, while others maintain a quieter wilderness atmosphere with a special meal. Guests who want a particular style of celebration should request detailed information before selecting the lodge.

    4. Are fireworks allowed?

Fireworks are often restricted because noise can disturb wildlife, local communities and other guests. Lodges may use music, campfires, lanterns or indoor countdowns instead. Guests should never bring their own fireworks without written permission.

    5. Can Santa or children’s gifts be arranged?

Some properties may arrange a Santa appearance, cake, gifts or a room surprise. Parents may need to provide the gifts discreetly before arrival. Remote lodges cannot always obtain highly specific items at short notice, so arrangements should be confirmed early.

    6. Is December weather suitable for safari?

Resident wildlife remains present, but rain may affect roads, vegetation and animal distribution. Green landscapes and dramatic skies can be beautiful, while muddy tracks may require route changes. Flexibility is important during the festive season.

    7. Can we request a private dinner instead of joining the gala?

Sometimes. Some lodges require all guests to attend or pay for the main festive meal, while others can organise a private table or separate location. Couples and families should discuss this before choosing accommodation.

    8. Why are festive prices higher?

Christmas and New Year are popular travel periods with high demand for rooms, vehicles and flights. Lodges may also provide special meals, entertainment and extra staffing. Higher prices reflect both limited availability and additional festive services.

    9. Can grandparents and young children join?

Yes. A private vehicle allows extra comfort stops and flexible activities. Family rooms, convenient room locations, child meals and mobility requirements should be confirmed early. Long road journeys must still be considered carefully.

    10. How early should we book?

Six to twelve months ahead is advisable when specific lodges, family rooms or festive dates are important. Popular properties can fill earlier. Late bookings may require alternative accommodations or higher rates.

Christmas in the Maasai Mara Became a Family Story

    5/5

Instead of beginning Christmas morning with television and shopping, we watched elephants crossing the grasslands. The lodge prepared a special lunch and small gifts for the children, but the wildlife remained the centre of the day. It felt festive without becoming artificial.

Every Festive Supplement Was Explained Clearly

    5/5

The quotation showed which dinners were compulsory, which drinks were excluded and where the New Year event would take place. The safari was expensive, but there were no surprise charges. That transparency allowed us to plan the holiday confidently.

The Maasai Mara Stayed More Important Than the Party

    5/5

We enjoyed a special dinner, but the day had still been a proper wildlife safari. Lions, elephants and wide savannah scenery created the real celebration. I appreciated that the tour did not sacrifice the wildlife programme for hotel entertainment.

Lake Bogoria Added an Unexpected Festive Memory

Steam rising beside the lake and flamingos in the distance created a surreal morning. It was completely different from a traditional Christmas destination. The unusual landscape became one of the photographs we shared most often afterward.

Rain Changed the Schedule but Not the Experience

    5/5

Heavy rain slowed one road and delayed our arrival. The guide contacted the lodge, rearranged dinner and explained the situation calmly. We missed one planned sunset stop, but the following morning was beautiful. Professional handling mattered more than following every printed hour.

    Festive but Still Peaceful

    5/5

We wanted seasonal atmosphere without constant noise and crowds. The lodges offered decorations and good meals, but there was also quiet time beside the lake and around the camps. The balance suited us perfectly.
