Explore Kenya confidently on a 10-day midrange solo traveller safari through Samburu, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli.
Travel through Kenya independently while enjoying professionally managed transport, accommodation and wildlife activities on this 10-day midrange solo traveller safari. Your journey begins in Samburu, where rare northern animals and elephants provide a distinctive introduction to Kenyaβs wilderness. Lake Nakuru adds rhinos and Rift Valley scenery before two full days in Masai Mara provide outstanding opportunities to see big cats and large herbivore herds. Lake Naivasha offers a relaxing freshwater experience, while Amboseli completes your solo adventure with elephant families and possible Mount Kilimanjaro views. Solo guests may reserve a private safari vehicle for maximum flexibility or request a suitable shared departure to reduce costs and meet other travellers. You will receive a private room at selected midrange properties, direct Nairobi pickup and drop-off, daily briefings and continuous support from our professional driver-guide.
Your Kenya solo traveller safari begins with direct pickup from your Nairobi hotel, residence, Wilson Airport or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. After meeting our guide and discussing your interests, preferred pace and travel arrangements, you will begin the approximately 320-kilometre journey to Samburu National Reserve. The transfer normally takes 5½ to 6½ hours, passing through central Kenya, the Mount Kenya region, Nanyuki and Isiolo. Our guide will arrange suitable washroom and refreshment stops while remaining available to answer your questions throughout the journey. After lunch and check-in at your midrange accommodation, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive lasting approximately 2½ to 3 hours before returning to your private room for dinner and rest.
After breakfast, you will spend approximately 7 to 9 hours exploring Samburu and may cover between 60 and 120 kilometres. Our guide will search river habitats, dry bushland and open plains for elephants, lions, leopards, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks and Beisa oryx. Private solo guests may request more time at photography opportunities or return to the lodge earlier, while guests joining a shared departure will follow an agreed programme. A picnic lunch may be served inside the reserve, or lunch may be enjoyed at the lodge before an afternoon drive. Our guide can also help take personal photographs when it is safe and practical.
Following breakfast and check-out, you will travel approximately 275 to 300 kilometres to Lake Nakuru over 5 to 6½ hours. Our guide will arrange planned comfort and refreshment stops as you pass through the central highlands and descend into the Great Rift Valley. After arriving at your lodge, you will have lunch, check into your private room and join an afternoon game drive lasting approximately 3 hours. You may see rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, baboons and numerous birds while your guide explains the park’s conservation history and wildlife management.
After an early breakfast, you will enjoy a morning Lake Nakuru game drive lasting around 2½ to 3 hours before returning for check-out. You will then travel approximately 240 to 260 kilometres to Masai Mara, with the transfer normally taking 5 to 6½ hours. Comfort and refreshment stops will be arranged during the drive through the Rift Valley and Narok. After reaching your midrange lodge or tented camp, you will check into your private room, enjoy a late lunch and relax. A short evening game drive may be included when arrival time permits.
Following breakfast, you will spend approximately 8 to 10 hours exploring Masai Mara and may cover between 80 and 150 kilometres. Our guide will search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hyenas and large plains-game herds. A picnic lunch will be served inside the reserve, allowing you to continue your wildlife experience throughout the day. Private solo guests may request additional time at sightings and photography locations, while shared-safari guests can enjoy the experience with other wildlife travellers.
Your solo journey continues with another full day in Masai Mara, providing more opportunities to explore different wildlife areas and observe animal behaviour. The day may involve approximately 8 to 10 hours of game viewing and between 70 and 140 kilometres of driving. Our guide may begin early to search for predators before moving toward rivers, open plains and quieter sections of the reserve. A picnic lunch will be served inside Masai Mara, and you will return to the lodge around sunset after a complete day of wildlife viewing.
After breakfast and lodge check-out, you will travel approximately 250 kilometres to Lake Naivasha in around 5 to 6 hours. Our guide will arrange suitable comfort and refreshment stops during the transfer through Narok and the Rift Valley. After checking into your private lakeside room and having lunch, you may spend the afternoon relaxing or join an optional boat excursion lasting approximately 1 to 1½ hours. You may reserve a private boat or join other visitors when shared space is available. Possible sightings include hippos, fish eagles, pelicans, herons and kingfishers.
Following an early breakfast, you will begin the approximately 320-kilometre journey to Amboseli. The transfer normally takes 6 to 7 hours, depending on traffic around Nairobi. Our guide will manage navigation, road conditions and suitable meal stops, allowing you to travel without arranging additional transport independently. After lunch and check-in at your midrange lodge, you may relax or join a short afternoon game drive lasting approximately 2 hours.
After breakfast, you will spend approximately 7 to 9 hours exploring Amboseli and may cover between 60 and 120 kilometres. Our guide will visit marshes, woodland, open plains and seasonal lake areas while searching for elephant families, lions, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, wildebeests and birds. Mount Kilimanjaro may be visible during clear morning weather. A picnic lunch or lodge lunch will be followed by more afternoon wildlife viewing according to your interests and preferred pace.
Following breakfast and check-out, you will travel approximately 240 kilometres to Nairobi in around 4 to 5 hours. A short morning game drive may be included when your onward schedule allows. Our guide will provide direct drop-off at your Nairobi hotel, private residence, Wilson Airport or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, ensuring you do not need to arrange further transport alone.
