The most challenging yet rewarding day awaits as we begin our ascent by midnight, using torchlights to guide us. After approximately 5-6 hours of steep hiking over volcanic scree, we'll reach Gilman's Point at 5,685 meters. The journey continues west along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. After relishing the awe-inspiring views and the accomplishment, we retrace our steps to Stella Point and then descend to Barafu Camp for lunch.
