Rift Valley Birding Journey

At approximately 5:15 AM, our guide will collect you from Nairobi and arrange binoculars, cameras and field guides securely. You will travel through the Great Rift Valley and Narok toward the Maasai Mara. Safely visible roadside raptors may be discussed without delaying the journey.

Afternoon Savannah Birding

After arrival, lunch and check-in, you will begin a birding game drive from approximately 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The guide will search grasslands and woodland for raptors, rollers, bustards, storks and smaller savannah birds. Large mammals may also be encountered.

Morning Raptors and Grassland Birds

At around 6:00 AM, you will begin a full-day birding drive while many species are active. Your guide will explore open plains, riverine woodland and seasonal wetlands. Time will be provided for identification, photography and behavioural observation.

Checklist Picnic and Afternoon Search

At approximately 12:30 PM, you will enjoy a picnic lunch and review the morning checklist. The afternoon route will focus on habitats not fully explored earlier. You will return for dinner and an evening species discussion.

Riverine and Woodland Species

At approximately 6:00 AM, you will explore a different section of the Maasai Mara. Greater attention may be given to woodland, river corridors and wetland edges. Possible sightings include hornbills, kingfishers, raptors, storks and smaller passerines.

Afternoon Bird and Mammal Encounters

After a picnic lunch, birding continues until around 5:30 PM. Important lion, elephant or giraffe sightings may be enjoyed without changing the birding theme. You will return to your premium accommodation for dinner.

Missing Species Search

At around 6:00 AM, your guide will select a route based on the species already recorded. The aim is to explore remaining habitats and search for birds not yet observed. No specific checklist total can be guaranteed.

Final Mara Checklist Review

After lunch, the afternoon safari continues through grasslands and woodland. You will return at around 5:30 PM and review the complete Mara bird list. Dinner follows before the transfer day.

Final Mara Morning Birds

A short early birding drive or lodge-area session may be completed before breakfast. The guide will search for species missed during the full-day drives. You will then return for breakfast and check-out.

Rift Valley Birding Transfer

You will travel toward Lake Nakuru with lunch and comfort stops arranged along the route. Safely visible roadside raptors and open-country birds may be discussed. Arrival at your premium accommodation is expected during the afternoon.

Lakeshore and Woodland Birds

At approximately 6:00 AM, you will enter Lake Nakuru National Park for birding and wildlife observation. Possible species include pelicans, cormorants, herons, kingfishers, fish eagles, vultures and seasonal flamingos. Rhinos and giraffes may also be encountered.

Transfer toward Lake Bogoria

After breakfast and check-out, you will travel toward Lake Bogoria. Arrival at your selected accommodation is expected during the afternoon. The evening can be used for checklist review and preparation.

Flamingo and Geothermal Birding

At around 6:00 AM, you will enter Lake Bogoria National Reserve. The guide will search for flamingos, waterbirds, raptors and dry-country species around safe accessible areas. Hot springs and geothermal scenery add a distinctive landscape element.

Journey to Lake Naivasha

After breakfast or refreshments, you will travel to Lake Naivasha and check into a premium lakeside lodge. Informal birding around the gardens and shoreline may produce fish eagles, kingfishers, weavers and herons. Dinner follows after a checklist review.

Morning Waterbird Experience

At approximately 7:00 AM, you may enjoy a confirmed boat safari, guided birdwatching session or Crescent Island walk. Possible species include fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants, jacanas, herons and kingfishers. Boating remains subject to safe conditions.

Transfer to Amboseli

After breakfast and check-out, you will begin the journey toward Amboseli. Lunch and comfort stops will be included. Arrival is expected during the late afternoon or early evening.

Wetlands and Open-Country Birds

At around 6:00 AM, you will begin a morning drive through wetlands, grasslands and open plains. Possible birds include herons, egrets, storks, raptors, ground birds and seasonal wetland species. Elephants, giraffes and buffaloes may also be observed.

Afternoon Species Search

After lunch and a midday break, you will return for an afternoon birding drive. The guide will focus on species and habitats not fully covered during the morning. Mount Kilimanjaro visibility depends on cloud conditions.

Sunrise Checklist Completion

At around 6:00 AM, you will complete a final birding and wildlife drive. The guide will revisit productive wetlands or open-country habitats and search for missing checklist species. You will return for breakfast at approximately 9:00 AM.

Return to Nairobi

After check-out, you will begin the road journey to Nairobi. Lunch or refreshments may be arranged along the route. Final drop-off will be at your confirmed destination.
