Day 2: Maasai Mara Morning Photographic Game Drive – Return to Nairobi

Maasai Mara Morning Photographic Game Drive – Return to Nairobi

You will begin the day early when the reserve is calm and the morning light is ideal for wildlife photography. During our morning game drive, our guide will search for predators returning from their night activities, grazing herbivores, colourful birds and beautiful scenes across the savannah. Stops will be made at suitable viewpoints so that you can work with different angles, backgrounds and natural behaviour without unnecessarily disturbing the animals. After this final photographic experience, you will return for breakfast or continue with a packed meal depending on the schedule. Our safari then leaves Maasai Mara for Nairobi, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or agreed location.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 2 Days -Day Midrange Kenya Photographic Safari in Maasai Mara

Is this Kenya photographic safari suitable for beginners?

Yes. You do not need professional photography experience. Our guide will help you understand animal behaviour and select suitable positions, while you remain free to use a camera or smartphone.

    2. Which camera lens should I carry?

A zoom lens such as 70–300mm or 100–400mm is useful for wildlife. A wider lens can be helpful for landscapes, vehicle scenes and environmental portraits.

    3. Are both game drives scheduled during good photography hours?

Yes. The first game drive takes place in the afternoon, while the second begins early in the morning. These periods usually provide softer light and active wildlife.

    4. Can the vehicle stop when I need to take a photograph?

Our guide will stop at safe and permitted locations whenever conditions allow. Stops depend on park regulations, wildlife movement, road access and the safety of all guests.

    5. Do I need to bring a camera support?

A lightweight beanbag is useful when photographing from the vehicle. Large tripods can be inconvenient inside a safari vehicle, although a monopod may work in some situations.

    6. Will I be guaranteed a window seat?

Seating depends on the number of travellers and the vehicle arrangement. Please request a window seat when booking so the available safari setup can be confirmed.

    7. Can I charge my camera batteries during the safari?

Many midrange properties provide charging facilities, but power availability may be limited. Carrying spare batteries and a power bank is strongly recommended.

    8. How should I protect my equipment from dust?

Bring a protective camera bag, lens cloth, blower and simple rain cover. Avoid changing lenses frequently while the vehicle is moving on dusty roads.

    9. What wildlife could I photograph in two days?

Possible subjects include lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, hippos, birds and, with good luck, cheetahs or leopards. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

    10. Is the safari focused only on photography?

Photography receives special attention, but the tour remains enjoyable for non-photographers. Travelling companions can watch wildlife and appreciate the landscapes while you take pictures.

I travelled with my sister, who is not a photographer, and both of us enjoyed the safari. I captured close wildlife portraits while she enjoyed watching the animals and learning from our guide. The accommodation was welcoming after a dusty afternoon drive.
