Nairobi to Amboseli – Afternoon Wetland and Plains Birding

Your birdwatching journey begins at approximately 6:30 a.m. when our guide meets you at your Nairobi hotel, residence or confirmed pickup point. After discussing your target species and birding interests, you will drive toward Amboseli, with a comfort and refreshment break arranged along the way. The journey generally takes four and a half to five and a half hours. You will arrive at your luxury lodge for check-in, lunch and a short rest before preparing binoculars, cameras and field notes. At around 3:30 p.m., the afternoon game drive will begin. Our guide will explore suitable wetland edges, grasslands and woodland sections while identifying waterbirds, raptors and plains species. Mammals such as elephants, giraffes, zebras and buffaloes may also be encountered. You will return at approximately 6:30 p.m. for dinner, a review of the day’s sightings and overnight.

Day 2: Early-Morning Birding Drive – Return to Nairobi

Early-Morning Birding Drive – Return to Nairobi

You will wake at approximately 5:30 a.m. and depart at around 6:00 a.m. after tea or coffee. Early morning is often rewarding for bird activity, calls and softer photography light. Our guide will revisit productive habitats and search for species that were not recorded during the previous afternoon. You may observe birds feeding around the wetlands, raptors scanning the open plains or smaller species moving through acacia vegetation. All sightings depend on season, habitat conditions and natural behaviour. At approximately 9:00 a.m., you will return to the lodge for breakfast, complete your bird list and check out by around 10:30 a.m. The journey back to Nairobi includes a lunch or refreshment stop, with final drop-off expected between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
