Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Afternoon Birding and Wildlife Drive

You will be collected from your Nairobi hotel, residence or the airport and begin the scenic journey to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. After travelling through the Great Rift Valley and the Kenyan countryside, you will arrive at your luxury lodge or tented camp for check-in and lunch. In the afternoon, our guide will take you on a birding-focused game drive through grassland, acacia and riverine habitats. You may identify secretary birds, lilac-breasted rollers, ground hornbills, eagles, vultures, bustards and other Mara species while also observing elephants, giraffes, antelopes and predators. You will return to the lodge before dinner and enjoy a restful evening surrounded by nature.

Morning Birdwatching Drive – Return to Nairobi

Your morning exploration begins when bird activity is high and the reserve is still cool and peaceful. Our guide will listen for calls, scan trees and open plains, and help you spot both common and less frequently seen species. Depending on the area explored, you may observe raptors preparing to hunt, waterbirds near seasonal pools and colourful species feeding among the bushes. The morning drive also provides another opportunity to see lions, cheetahs, elephants and other large mammals. You will return to the lodge for breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi, arriving later for drop-off at your hotel, residence or airport.
