Day 1: Family Journey from Nairobi to the Amboseli Wilderness

Family Journey from Nairobi to the Amboseli Wilderness

Our Nairobi-to-Amboseli family safari begins with collection from your hotel, residence or the airport. You will travel in a private safari vehicle, giving your family enough room and the flexibility to request comfort stops along the way. Our guide will introduce younger travellers to the landscapes, communities and wildlife of southern Kenya using clear and engaging explanations. After arriving, you will check in at your comfortable midrange accommodation and enjoy lunch. The afternoon game drive takes your family across Amboseli’s open plains and wetlands, where you may encounter elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and playful baboons. Children will have opportunities to ask questions, observe animal behaviour and begin their own wildlife checklist.

Amboseli Family Wildlife Quest – Return to Nairobi

After breakfast, your family will set out for an extended Amboseli wildlife adventure. Our guide will look for large elephant families, hippos resting in the wetlands, antelopes grazing on the plains and predators scanning the open landscape. When conditions are suitable, you may enjoy views of Mount Kilimanjaro and visit Observation Hill, although climbing the steps remains optional. The private schedule allows our safari to include reasonable washroom, photography and refreshment breaks. RELATED FAQS ABOUT 2 Days Nairobi-to-Amboseli Family Safari – Midrange Adventure

    1. Is the road journey manageable for children?

Yes. The private vehicle allows the guide to make safe comfort, washroom and refreshment stops based on the children’s needs.

    2. What is the recommended minimum age?

Children of different ages may join, but parents should consider their ability to manage road travel and remain seated during game drives.

    3. Can siblings share a room?

Twin, triple or family rooms can be requested. The final arrangement depends on the selected midrange accommodation and room capacity.

    4. Are baby cots available?

Some lodges provide cots when requested early. Availability and any extra charge must be confirmed before arrival.

    5. Can we bring snacks for our children?

Yes. Families may carry suitable packaged snacks, but food should not be offered to wildlife or left inside the park.

    6. Are there educational activities for children?

Our guide can create a simple animal checklist, explain tracks and habitats, and help children recognise common Amboseli wildlife.

    7. Can a parent remain at the lodge with a tired child?

Yes. Since this is a private package, one family member may remain at the lodge while the others continue the game drive.

    8. Is Observation Hill compulsory?

No. Climbing Observation Hill is optional. Guests can remain near the vehicle if the steps are unsuitable for young children.

    9. What safety rules should children follow?

Children must remain seated while the vehicle is moving, avoid loud noises near wildlife and follow the instructions of parents and our guide.

    10. Can we celebrate a child’s birthday during the safari?

Yes. A birthday cake, room decoration or small lodge celebration may be requested in advance and could involve an additional fee.
