Your private journey covers about 215 kilometres in each direction and normally takes four to five hours depending on the Nairobi pickup location, traffic, road conditions and comfort stops. You will travel through the changing landscapes of southern Kenya before arriving at a premium lodge or luxury tented camp near Amboseli National Park. The package includes an afternoon game drive and a cooler early-morning wildlife safari, providing opportunities to search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, predators and wetland birds. Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Private Nairobi Departure

At approximately 6:00 AM, our driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel, residence or agreed meeting point. After arranging your luggage, you will begin the 215-kilometre road journey toward Amboseli, with a refreshment and comfort stop included along the route.

Southern Kenya Road Journey

Between 6:30 AM and 11:00 AM, our journey will follow the Nairobi–Mombasa highway before continuing toward the Amboseli ecosystem. You will pass busy towns, farmland and increasingly dry plains while our guide introduces the landscapes and communities found along the route.

Premium Lodge Arrival

At around 11:30 AM, you will arrive at your premium lodge or luxury tented camp near Amboseli National Park. After check-in, you will enjoy lunch and have time to freshen up, rest and prepare binoculars and cameras for the afternoon game drive.

Afternoon Wildlife Drive

From approximately 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM, our guide will explore Amboseli’s open plains, acacia woodland and wetland areas. You will search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest and birdlife before returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Safari and Nairobi Return

Sunrise Game Drive

At around 6:00 AM, you will enter Amboseli National Park during the cooler morning hours. Our tour driver will explore different wildlife areas while searching for active elephant families, grazing herbivores and possible predators.

Breakfast and Check-Out

At approximately 9:15 AM, you will return to the premium lodge for breakfast. You will have time to freshen up, organise your luggage and complete check-out before the return journey begins.

Drive-In Drive-Out Transfer

From around 10:45 AM, you will travel about 215 kilometres from Amboseli back to Nairobi. A lunch or refreshment stop will be arranged before your guide drops you at your hotel, residence or another agreed Nairobi location.

1. What does a drive-in, drive-out Amboseli safari mean?

A drive-in, drive-out safari means that you travel from Nairobi to Amboseli by road and return to Nairobi using the same safari vehicle. This arrangement allows you to enjoy the landscapes between Nairobi and Amboseli while avoiding domestic flight costs and airport procedures.

2. How long is the road journey from Nairobi to Amboseli?

The journey normally takes between four and five hours, depending on your pickup location, Nairobi traffic, road conditions and the number of stops made along the way. Travelling early in the morning helps reduce delays and allows sufficient time for the afternoon game drive.

3. Is the road safari conducted privately?

Yes. This premium package is planned as a private safari unless your final confirmation states otherwise. You will not share the transfer or game-drive vehicle with unrelated travellers.

4. Is the journey comfortable for a two-day safari?

Yes. The itinerary includes a planned comfort stop and a midday rest period at the lodge before the afternoon game drive. The private vehicle also allows reasonable adjustments when guests need an additional short break.

5. What wildlife may we see in Amboseli?

Possible sightings include elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, hippos, hyenas, lions and many bird species. Wildlife moves naturally, so the exact animals and quality of each sighting cannot be guaranteed.

6. Will we see Mount Kilimanjaro?

Mount Kilimanjaro may be visible from Amboseli when cloud and weather conditions are favourable. Early morning sometimes provides clearer views, but the mountain can remain hidden even when the national park weather is pleasant.

7. Are meals included in the road safari?

Meals are included according to the confirmed package. The usual arrangement may include lunch and dinner on Day 1, followed by breakfast and a return-route lunch or refreshment stop on Day 2.

8. Can we request additional roadside stops?

Reasonable comfort stops can be arranged when road safety and the overall schedule permit. Long or frequent stops may reduce the time available for the afternoon game drive.

9. Is airport pickup or drop-off available?

Yes. Airport-area pickup or drop-off can be arranged when the flight schedule provides enough time for immigration, luggage collection, road traffic and airline check-in. Flight details should be shared before confirmation.

10. Can this road safari continue to another destination?

Yes. The journey can continue from Amboseli to Tsavo West, Tsavo East, Lake Nakuru or another Kenya safari destination. Additional nights, transport, park fees and accommodation will be quoted separately.
