Your private drive-in, drive-out journey covers approximately 260–280 kilometres in each direction, depending on the reserve gate and accommodation selected, and normally takes five and a half to six and a half hours with a breakfast or comfort stop. You will travel through the Great Rift Valley and Narok County before arriving at a premium lodge or luxury tented camp near the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The package includes a late-afternoon game drive and a cooler early-morning safari in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, cheetahs, hyenas and birdlife. Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Early Road Departure

At approximately 5:30 AM, our driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel, residence or agreed meeting point. After arranging your luggage, you will begin the 260–280-kilometre road journey toward the Maasai Mara.

Rift Valley and Narok Drive

Between 6:00 AM and 11:30 AM, our journey will continue through the Great Rift Valley and Narok region. A breakfast, scenic or comfort stop may be included before you continue toward your selected reserve gate and accommodation area.

Premium Lodge and Afternoon Safari

At around 12:00 PM, you will arrive at your premium lodge or luxury camp, check in and enjoy lunch. From approximately 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, our guide will search the Mara plains for lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and other wildlife before returning for dinner.

Day 2: Morning Wildlife and Drive Back to Nairobi

Sunrise Game Drive

At around 6:00 AM, you will enter the reserve during the cooler morning hours. Our guide will explore productive wildlife areas while searching for active predators, elephant groups and grazing herbivores.

Breakfast and Nairobi Transfer

At approximately 9:15 AM, you will return for breakfast and complete lodge check-out. From around 10:30 AM, you will travel through Narok toward Nairobi, with a lunch or refreshment stop before drop-off at approximately 5:00–6:30 PM.

1. What is a drive-in, drive-out Maasai Mara safari?

A drive-in, drive-out safari means that you travel from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara by road and return to Nairobi using the same safari vehicle. This allows you to experience the Great Rift Valley and changing landscapes along the way while avoiding domestic airport procedures and flight luggage restrictions.

2. How long is the journey from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara?

The drive normally takes five and a half to six and a half hours, depending on your pickup point, Nairobi traffic, road conditions, reserve gate and lodge location. A short breakfast or comfort stop is normally included to make the journey more comfortable.

3. Is the road transfer private?

Yes. This premium package is planned as a private safari unless your final booking confirmation states otherwise. You will not be required to share the vehicle with unrelated travellers during the road transfers or game drives.

4. Is two days enough for a Maasai Mara road safari?

Two days provides a short introduction with one afternoon game drive and one morning safari. It is suitable for guests with limited time, but travellers seeking deeper wildlife exploration should consider adding one or two more nights.

5. Which wildlife may we see?

Possible sightings include lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, antelopes and many bird species. Wildlife sightings are natural, so no specific animal can be guaranteed.

6. Will we see all members of the Big Five?

The Maasai Mara supports lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards and rhinos, but leopards and rhinos are generally more difficult to locate. Our guide will search carefully without making unrealistic promises.

7. Is the road journey suitable for children or senior travellers?

It can be suitable when participants are comfortable with several hours of road travel. Private transport allows reasonable comfort stops, although medical, mobility or child-seating requirements should be shared before booking.

8. Are meals included?

The usual meal plan includes lunch and dinner on Day 1 and breakfast on Day 2. A return-route lunch may be included or arranged separately depending on the final quotation.

9. Can the safari end somewhere other than Nairobi?

Yes. The itinerary may end at Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, another Kenya destination or an agreed airport location. Changes in route, transport and accommodation may affect the final price.

10. Can this package be upgraded?
