N.B: After you send your booking we will get back to you with in 24 hours.
Is this 2-day Tanzania family safari suitable for young children?
Yes, this itinerary is perfect for families because the driving distances between Arusha, Tarangire, and the Ngorongoro Crater are relatively short. We provide vehicles with enough space for kids to move around and stay comfortable during the game drives. Your guide will also tailor the experience to keep children engaged by identifying tracks and birds along the way.
What kind of safety measures are in place for children during the game drives?
Our 4x4 Land Cruisers are equipped with sturdy doors and window locks to ensure kids remain safe while observing wildlife. The pop-up roof allows children to see the animals clearly without needing to lean out of the vehicle. We also ensure that our professional guides are experienced in managing groups with younger travelers to maintain a secure environment at all times.
Can we request child-friendly meals at the lodges during our two-day trip?
Most of the lodges we partner with offer specialized menus that include kid-friendly options like pasta, chicken nuggets, and fresh fruit. We can also accommodate specific allergies or dietary restrictions if you inform us during the booking process. The kitchens are used to preparing nutritious meals that satisfy even the pickiest eaters in the family.
Is it possible to customize our family-friendly 2-day Tanzanian journey to include a cultural visit?
We can easily alter the schedule to include a stop at a Maasai village or a local primary school near Karatu. This allows your children to meet local kids and learn about different ways of life in a fun and interactive way. These cultural stops provide a great break from the vehicle and add a deeper educational layer to your wildlife adventure.
What happens if my child gets bored during long animal spotting sessions?
Our guides carry educational books and wildlife checklists to keep children active and focused on the search for the Big Five. We also plan frequent stops at designated picnic sites where kids can burn off some energy and stretch their legs. The variety of animals in Tarangire and the crater usually keeps everyone excited from start to finish.
Are there family rooms or interconnected tents available for this package?
We prioritize booking accommodations that offer large family suites or interconnected rooms so that everyone can stay close together. These rooms are designed to provide privacy for parents while keeping the children within reach. Most lodges also offer swimming pools which are a huge hit with kids after a dusty day in the parks.
Can we bring a car seat for our toddler for the drive to Tarangire and Ngorongoro?
You are welcome to bring your own car seat and our drivers will help you secure it into the safari vehicle for added safety. We recommend this for younger children to ensure they are comfortable during the journey on both paved and bumpy roads. Please let us know in advance so we can ensure the vehicle configuration is ready for the installation.
How much time will we spend in the car over these two days?
The drive from Arusha to Tarangire takes about two hours and the journey from Tarangire to the Ngorongoro region is roughly the same. We break up these drives with exciting game viewing and stops for snacks and photos. This manageable travel time makes it one of the best options for families who want to see a lot without spending the whole day on the road.
Will we be able to see the Big Five on this short family outing?
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places in Africa to see the entire Big Five in a single day. While leopards can be elusive, the high density of lions, elephants, and buffaloes in both parks makes for very successful viewing. Seeing these iconic animals in the wild is often the highlight of the trip for children and adults alike.
What should we pack to keep the kids comfortable during the safari?
We suggest packing layers of clothing as it can be very cold in the morning at the crater rim but quite hot in Tarangire by midday. Don't forget hats, sunscreen, and binoculars for the kids so they can feel like real explorers. Bringing a few of their favorite snacks and a refillable water bottle is also a good idea to keep everyone happy between meals.
