2 Days Tanzania Lodge Safari to Lake Manyara

Your journey starts with an early departure from Arusha toward Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive focusing on tree climbing lions and birdlife. You will then spend the night at a comfortable lodge before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater floor the following morning. The trip concludes with a drive back to Arusha in the late afternoon of the second day.

We select high quality lodges or luxury tented camps situated near the town of Karatu or the park boundaries. These facilities offer comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, and hot showers to help you relax after a day in the bush. Most lodges also feature swimming pools and dining areas with stunning views of the surrounding highlands.

Lake Manyara is famous for its unique tree climbing lions and massive troops of baboons that greet visitors near the entrance. You can also expect to see large herds of elephants, giraffes, and thousands of pink flamingos along the shores of the soda lake. The groundwater forest provides a lush habitat for many smaller mammals and colorful birds.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places in the world to spot all the Big Five in a single day. You are almost guaranteed to see lions, buffaloes, and elephants roaming the open plains of the caldera. Yes, all meals are included from lunch on the first day to a packed picnic lunch on the second day. You will enjoy a hot dinner and a fresh breakfast at your lodge where professional chefs prepare a mix of local and international dishes. We also cater to specific dietary requirements such as vegetarian or gluten free options if notified in advance.

It is very easy to add a brief cultural stop at a Maasai boma or a visit to the village of Mto wa Mbu. This allows you to learn about traditional customs and see how local tribes live in harmony with nature. Such activities can usually be fitted into the schedule without sacrificing too much game viewing time.

Since the crater rim can be quite chilly in the morning while the lake area is warm, we recommend dressing in layers. Bring a warm jacket, a sun hat, sunscreen, and a good pair of binoculars for spotting distant animals. Comfortable walking shoes are also essential for when you are moving around the lodge grounds.

Wildlife viewing is excellent year round because the animals in the crater do not migrate. However, the dry season from June to October is particularly popular because the thinner vegetation makes spotting predators much easier. The green season from November to May offers beautiful landscapes and is the best time for bird watching.

Most guests are picked up from their hotels in Arusha or from Kilimanjaro International Airport. We provide door to door service and will ensure you are returned to your preferred location at the end of the second day.
