Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will be met and transferred approximately 25 km (around 45 minutes) to Arusha. Enjoy a scenic drive through the foothills as you head to your luxury lodge. Upon arrival, check in and take time to relax after your journey. Later, receive a detailed briefing on the upcoming birdwatching safari, including key hotspots, expected species, and park highlights to help you prepare for the experience ahead.
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire – Full Day Birdwatching & Game Drive
Depart early for Tarangire National Park, a 120 km (about 2.5-hour) drive through scenic landscapes and rural villages. On arrival, explore the park’s 2,850 km² of savannahs, seasonal wetlands, and riverine forests in a luxury 4×4 game drive. Spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, and predators, while focusing on rich birdlife such as lilac-breasted rollers, hornbills, and various eagle species. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch near the Tarangire River, surrounded by wildlife activity and natural beauty. There will also be opportunities for photography around the iconic baobab trees before continuing your afternoon game drive. Later, proceed to your luxury lodge near Tarangire or Lake Manyara for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tarangire - Lake Manyara – Full Day Birdwatching & Game Drive, Return to Arusha
Drive approximately 90 km (1.5–2 hours) to Lake Manyara National Park, known for its flamingos, pelicans, and tree-climbing lions. Explore the 330 km² park in a luxury 4×4, passing through lush groundwater forest, open plains, and the scenic soda lake shoreline. Enjoy panoramic views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and observe large elephant herds along the way. Stop for a picnic lunch by the lake, surrounded by abundant birdlife and stunning scenery. In the late afternoon, exit the park and drive approximately 125 km back to Arusha, arriving in the evening after a rewarding day of wildlife and landscape exploration.
Departure Day: Arusha to Kilimanjaro/Arusha Airport
After breakfast, transfer approximately 25 km to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward international flight, marking the conclusion of your luxury birdwatching safari.
