3 Days Amboseli Birdwatching Safari from Nairobi

Our guide will collect you from Nairobi and begin the journey toward Amboseli National Park, watching for birds and changing habitats along the route. After arriving at your midrange lodge or tented camp, you will check in, have lunch and prepare your binoculars, camera and checklist. Our Amboseli birdwatching safari begins with an afternoon drive through open grassland, acacia woodland and wetland environments. You will look for raptors, rollers, larks, starlings, egrets, herons and larger ground birds while also observing elephants and other mammals. The guide will allow time for identification and photography before returning to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

You will leave early for a full day of birding across the park’s varied habitats. Our guide will listen for calls, scan the sky for raptors and search wetland margins for water-associated species. Open plains may produce bustards, lapwings and other terrestrial birds, while woodland areas can reveal smaller, colourful species that are easily missed on faster game drives. You will stop for a picnic or arranged meal at an approved site and continue recording sightings throughout the afternoon. Elephants, buffaloes, hippos, giraffes and antelopes may also appear as you explore the park. In the evening, you will return to your midrange accommodation and review the day’s bird list.

Our safari enters Amboseli for a final early-morning birdwatching drive when many species are vocal and active. You will revisit productive habitats or focus on birds that were not found during the previous day. Our guide will help distinguish similar species by their size, plumage, habitat, flight pattern and call while you enjoy possible views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After completing the morning session, you will return for breakfast, check out and travel back to Nairobi. Your guide will provide drop-off at the location confirmed during booking.
