Join a 3-Day Amboseli Luxury Birding Journey with private birdwatching drives, wetland species, elephant encounters and premium safari accommodation.
Discover the rich birdlife and dramatic wildlife landscapes of southern Kenya on this 3-Day Amboseli Luxury Birding Journey from Nairobi. Amboseli National Park supports an impressive variety of resident and migratory birds across its wetlands, open plains, woodland and seasonal lake environments. You may encounter flamingos, pelicans, crowned cranes, herons, eagles, vultures, secretary birds, rollers and many smaller species. Your private birding game drives will also provide opportunities to see Amboseli’s famous elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, lions and plains game. Our experienced guide will assist with identification while allowing enough time for observation and photography. You will stay at a selected luxury lodge or tented camp, where comfort and excellent service complement the birdwatching experience.
Our driver-guide will collect you from Nairobi and begin the journey toward Amboseli National Park. Along the way, you may observe common roadside birds and watch the landscape change as you approach the drier southern plains. After checking in at your luxury lodge or tented camp, you will enjoy lunch and prepare for an afternoon birding game drive. Our guide will explore grassland, wetland and acacia habitats in search of raptors, storks, herons, rollers, bustards and other Amboseli species. You will also have opportunities to observe elephants, zebras, giraffes and antelopes. After recording your sightings and enjoying the late-afternoon landscape, you will return to the lodge for dinner.
You will leave after breakfast with a picnic lunch and spend the day visiting different bird habitats inside Amboseli. Wetland areas may reveal pelicans, egrets, herons, ducks and waders, while open grasslands can produce secretary birds, ostriches, bustards and birds of prey. Acacia areas may support hornbills, weavers, starlings and colourful smaller species. Our guide will assist with identification, behaviour and habitat information while also searching for elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos and other large wildlife. You will enjoy your picnic lunch at an authorised location before continuing the birding experience. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Your final morning drive will focus on birds that are particularly active during the cooler hours. Our guide will listen for calls, scan trees and wetlands and help you add more species to your Amboseli checklist. When conditions are clear, you may also enjoy magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro views while observing elephants and other wildlife. After the drive, you will return for breakfast and check out before beginning your journey to Nairobi. A suitable lunch stop will be arranged before your final drop-off
