3 Days Midrange Mikumi Safari from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Our experienced local safari guide will welcome you at your hotel, residence, airport or another confirmed location in Dar es Salaam between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. After assisting with your luggage and providing a short briefing, the guide will begin the private road journey to Mikumi National Park.

Travel through Chalinze and Morogoro while observing local communities, farmland and the Uluguru Mountains. Breakfast, refreshments and washroom stops will be arranged at suitable locations. You will arrive near Mikumi at approximately 11:30 a.m., enjoy lunch and complete the national park entrance procedures.

Enter Mikumi National Park at approximately 1:30 p.m. for an afternoon game drive on the Mkata Floodplain. Look for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas and warthogs. Lions may be encountered resting below acacia trees or watching animals on the open plains. Leave the park at approximately 6:00 p.m. and transfer to your midrange lodge for dinner and overnight.

• Time: Approximately 5–6 hours of road travel and 4–4.5 hours of game viewing.
• Attractions: Chalinze, Morogoro, Uluguru Mountains, Mkata Floodplain, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and lions.
• Distance: Approximately 300 kilometres from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi, followed by around 25–40 kilometres inside the park.

After an early breakfast at the midrange lodge, depart at approximately 6:30 a.m. with drinking water and a packed lunch. Enter Mikumi National Park during the cooler morning hours, when many animals are feeding or moving between resting areas and water sources.

Explore the Mkata Floodplain, acacia woodland and seasonal water points. Search for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, greater kudus, elands and different antelope species. Predators may include lions, leopards and spotted hyenas. African wild dogs inhabit the wider ecosystem, although they are rarely encountered.

Visit the Hippo Pool to observe hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds from the designated viewing area. Enjoy your packed lunch at an authorised picnic site before continuing with the afternoon wildlife drive. Leave the national park at approximately 5:30–6:00 p.m. and return to your midrange lodge for dinner and overnight.

Begin the final morning with an early breakfast before checking out of the midrange lodge at approximately 6:30 a.m. Re-enter Mikumi National Park for one last game drive while temperatures remain cool and wildlife activity is often higher.

Explore a different section of the Mkata Floodplain or return to an area where rewarding wildlife was observed during the previous day. Search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes and predators before leaving Mikumi National Park at approximately 10:00 a.m.

Begin the drive-out journey through Morogoro and Chalinze toward Dar es Salaam. Stop for lunch and refreshments along the route. Arrival is expected between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., depending on traffic and road conditions. Our guide will drop you off at your hotel, residence, airport or another agreed location.

Time: Approximately 3–3.5 hours for the morning game drive and 5–6 hours for the road transfer.
Attractions: Morning wildlife on the Mkata Floodplain, Morogoro, Uluguru Mountains, Chalinze and rural Tanzania landscapes.
Distance: Approximately 20–40 kilometres inside Mikumi National Park, followed by around 300 kilometres to Dar es Salaam
