3 Days Midrange Ndutu Calving Tented Camp Safari

Road toward the Seasonal Plains
Our guide collects you from an Arusha hotel at approximately 6:00 a.m. for the 260–280 km journey through Mto wa Mbu, Karatu and the Ngorongoro highlands. Driving generally takes 5½–6½ hours plus comfort stops, entry procedures and final camp access tracks. Soft luggage fits the vehicle and tent more easily.

Afternoon Calving Safari
After packed lunch around 12:30 p.m., raise the viewing roof for a half-day drive across grassland, woodland edges or seasonal water areas. Current wildlife reports guide the search for wildebeest, calves, zebras, gazelles, predators and birds. Responsible positioning protects animal movement and keeps the safari from becoming a vehicle chase.

First Night under Canvas
Reach camp around 6:00 p.m. for a room briefing covering bathroom use, electricity hours, charging, emergency contact and night escorts. Settle into a proper bed inside your canvas room before dinner in the dining tent or common area. After dark, never walk outside alone, even when the route looks short.

Wake to the Wilderness
Camp staff provide a wake-up call or tea around 5:30 a.m., and the drive begins near 6:00 a.m. after a light meal or with breakfast boxes. Morning sounds may include wind, birds or distant animals, but their presence near camp is not guaranteed and guests stay inside until escorted.

Deep Exploration of Ndutu
Your guide plans a full-day circuit from current herd location, rain and track conditions rather than repeating the arrival route. Time may be spent with grazing herds, mobile calves, zebras, scavengers and predators while observing the landscape. Picnic lunch is served around 12:30 p.m. at an authorised site, and all waste returns with the vehicle.

Campfire Atmosphere and Dinner
Afternoon viewing continues until the planned return around 6:00 p.m. After an escorted walk to your tent, use available hot water and charge devices during confirmed power hours. Dinner follows, and a campfire may be offered when weather, safety and property policy permit; it is not guaranteed.

Final Drive from Camp
After a second early wake-up, leave at approximately 6:00 a.m. for one last half-day search. The camp’s location may provide efficient access to nearby habitat, although animals can move far overnight. Our guide chooses between revisiting a productive area and exploring a fresh route.

Canvas Check-Out
Breakfast is served at camp or packed for the field, and the game drive ends around 10:30 a.m. Return keys if used, settle drinks or laundry charges and check bedside charging points for devices. Staff assist with luggage before an early lunch or packed meal.

Highlands Road to Arusha
Depart Ndutu around noon for the 260–280 km transfer, usually taking 5½–6½ hours plus stops and formalities. Dust or rain on the access track can influence timing, so the guide communicates updates. Arrival at the agreed Arusha hotel is expected around 6:00–7:30 p.m., completing two nights under canvas.
