Join a 3-day premium Amboseli birdwatching Kenya safari with private transport, luxury lodging, wetland birds, elephants and plains.
Our 3-Day Premium Amboseli Birdwatching Kenya Safari is created for travellers who want more observation time across the park’s varied habitats. The private road journey from Nairobi covers about 215 kilometres and normally takes four to five hours. After arriving at your premium accommodation, you will enjoy an afternoon birding drive, a full day exploring wetlands, marshes, open grasslands and acacia woodland, and a final morning safari before returning to Nairobi. Depending on the season and habitat conditions, you may observe herons, egrets, pelicans, storks, kingfishers, raptors, ground birds and many smaller species. Our guide will also interpret elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest and antelopes encountered during birding activities. A private vehicle provides flexibility for binocular use, identification, checklist notes and bird photography.
Early Birding Departure
At approximately 5:45 AM in Nairobi, our guide will collect you from your hotel or agreed meeting point. Binoculars, cameras and field guides will be arranged safely before the 215-kilometre road journey begins.
Lodge Arrival and Birding Preparation
At around 11:00 AM in the Amboseli area, you will check into your premium lodge or luxury camp and enjoy lunch. The early afternoon provides time to rest and discuss likely species and habitats with the guide.
Wetland Birding Drive
From approximately 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM inside Amboseli National Park, you will explore wetland edges, grasslands and woodland in search of waterbirds, raptors and smaller species. Elephants and other mammals may also be encountered.
Morning Bird Activity
At around 6:00 AM inside Amboseli National Park, you will begin the full-day birding safari when many birds are calling, feeding or moving between habitats. Our guide will allow enough time for identification and photography.
Picnic Lunch and Checklist Review
At approximately 12:30 PM at an authorised picnic site, you will enjoy a packed lunch and review the morning checklist. Photographs and field guides may be used to discuss uncertain sightings.
Afternoon Birding and Wildlife
From around 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM across Amboseli’s plains and woodland, you will continue searching for raptors, ground birds and smaller species. The afternoon may also produce elephants, giraffes and buffaloes before returning to the lodge.
Sunrise Birdwatching Drive
At approximately 6:00 AM inside Amboseli National Park, you will enjoy a final birding drive through habitats not fully covered on the previous days. The guide will focus on missing species and productive observation areas.
Breakfast and Check-Out
At around 9:15 AM at your premium accommodation, you will return for breakfast and review the final checklist. Check-out will follow before the road journey begins.
Return to Nairobi
From approximately 10:30 AM, you will travel about 215 kilometres back to Nairobi in four to five hours. A lunch or refreshment stop may be included before drop-off.
