Our 3-Day Premium Samburu New Year Wilderness Celebration offers a memorable way to close one year or begin the next in Kenya’s rugged northern wilderness. You will travel approximately 320 kilometres from Nairobi in a private safari vehicle, with the transfer normally taking six to seven hours depending on festive traffic, road conditions and stops. After arriving at your premium lodge or luxury tented camp, you will enjoy lunch and an afternoon game drive. Day 2 includes separate morning and afternoon safaris, allowing you to enjoy the lodge and any confirmed New Year programme during the midday hours. Your final morning includes another wildlife drive before breakfast and the return to Nairobi. Possible sightings include elephants, lions, leopards, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, Beisa oryx and Somali ostriches. Special dinners, decorations, music or countdown activities depend on the selected lodge.

Private Festive Departure

At approximately 5:30 AM in Nairobi, our guide will collect you from your hotel, residence or agreed pickup point. After arranging your luggage, you will begin the private northern Kenya journey with scheduled comfort stops.

Premium Lodge Arrival

At around 12:30–1:30 PM in the Samburu area, you will check into your premium lodge or luxury camp and enjoy lunch. Lodge staff will confirm any official New Year dinner, music or evening programme.

Final Afternoon Safari of the Year

From approximately 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM inside Samburu National Reserve, our guide will search for elephants, rare giraffes, Grevy’s zebras and possible predators. You will return for dinner and any confirmed celebration.

First Wildlife Drive of the Year

At around 6:00 AM inside Samburu National Reserve, you will begin the year with a morning safari near the river and dry bushland. Our guide will search for active wildlife during the cooler conditions.

New Year Breakfast and Relaxation

At approximately 9:00 AM at your premium lodge, you will return for breakfast and enjoy a relaxed midday period. Lunch and any confirmed lodge activities will take place before the second safari.

Afternoon Wilderness Celebration

From around 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM inside the reserve, you will continue exploring for elephants, Special Five species and birds. The evening light provides a memorable conclusion to the full safari day.

At approximately 6:00 AM inside Samburu National Reserve, you will enjoy a final morning game drive. Our guide will revisit productive habitats and search for wildlife not yet observed.

Breakfast and Lodge Departure

At around 9:00 AM at your premium accommodation, you will return for breakfast and organise your luggage. Check-out will normally take place at approximately 10:00 AM.

New Year Return to Nairobi

From around 10:00 AM, you will travel approximately 320 kilometres back to Nairobi with lunch and comfort stops. Festive traffic may affect the final arrival time.

    Beginning the year in Samburu was unforgettable. The lodge celebration was enjoyable, but the main highlight was watching elephants near the river during the first morning safari.
