A telephoto lens in the range of approximately 100–400 mm is useful for mammals and birds. A wider lens can capture landscapes, large elephant families and animals within the wider Samburu environment. Carry spare batteries, memory cards, a cleaning cloth and protection against dust.

No. Leopards are secretive and may remain hidden in riverine woodland or thick vegetation. Our guide will search carefully and respond to signs or recent information, but no responsible safari company can guarantee a leopard sighting.

Yes. A beanbag or monopod is normally easier to use inside a safari vehicle than a large tripod. Travellers carrying very large lenses, multiple camera bodies or specialist equipment should provide details before departure so suitable space can be planned.

River conditions change according to rainfall and upstream water availability. Water levels may be high, low or seasonal, but the river corridor remains an important wildlife area because of its vegetation, shade and access to water.

Samburu can be dry and dusty, so camera covers, lens cloths and sealed bags are recommended. Game drives normally continue during light rain when roads remain safe, although our guide may adjust the route when weather affects visibility or access.
