Book a private 3-day midrange Samburu safari for seniors with comfortable accommodation, flexible game drives and scheduled road stops.
Explore Samburu National Reserve at a comfortable pace on this private three-day midrange safari created for elders and senior travellers. Our guide will provide flexible road transfers, scheduled comfort stops and shorter game-drive options while you enjoy carefully selected accommodation and search for elephants, big cats and rare northern wildlife.
Our guide will collect you from Nairobi in a private safari vehicle and begin the approximately 320–350 km journey to Samburu National Reserve. The usual drive takes 6–7 hours, although additional washroom and comfort stops may extend it to around 7–8 hours. You will travel through green highland farmland before entering northern Kenya’s dry scrub, acacia bush and open savannah. After lunch and check-in at your comfortable midrange lodge, you may rest before taking a gentle 2–3-hour afternoon game drive in search of elephants, giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, antelopes and predators.
You will begin with a relaxed 2½–3-hour morning game drive through dry grassland, acacia woodland and the riverine vegetation surrounding the Ewaso Ng’iro River. Our guide will search for the Samburu Special Five while maintaining a calm and comfortable pace. After breakfast, lunch and a generous rest at the midrange lodge, our safari continues with another 2½–3-hour afternoon drive through doum-palm groves, open bushland and rocky terrain. Approximately 40–65 km may be covered across both drives, depending on comfort, wildlife locations and road conditions.
You will take an optional 2-hour morning game drive covering approximately 15–30 km through open savannah, acacia scrub and riverine forest. Our guide will concentrate on accessible wildlife areas before returning to the lodge for breakfast. You will then travel approximately 320–350 km back to Nairobi, with the journey taking around 6–8 hours after scheduled comfort stops. The route passes from Samburu’s semi-arid vegetation into cultivated highlands and urban Nairobi.
