You will leave Nairobi with our professional driver-guide and travel north through fertile highlands before entering the drier landscapes leading toward Samburu. Throughout the journey, the guide will introduce the region’s geography, communities and changing land use. After checking in at your luxury accommodation, you will enjoy lunch and begin an afternoon game drive. You may encounter elephants, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks and predators while learning how the river supports wildlife and surrounding communities. You will return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Combined activity range: Approximately 35–60 km, depending on community location and wildlife movement
Experience duration: Around 3 hours of morning game viewing, followed by a cultural programme and afternoon safari
Main attractions: Samburu Special Five, elephants, community traditions, beadwork, pastoral life and river scenery

Your day begins with a morning game drive through productive wildlife areas. The guide will explain how animals adapt to the dry climate and why the Ewaso Ng’iro River is central to the ecosystem. After breakfast and time at the lodge, you may participate in a pre-arranged community-led cultural experience. Local hosts may share information about homestead organisation, livestock, clothing, beadwork and changes affecting community life. Photography should only take place after permission is granted. Depending on timing and the confirmed itinerary, you will later enjoy another game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner.

You will take a final morning game drive, reflecting on the relationship between Samburu’s people, wildlife and environment. After possible sightings of elephants, birds and rare northern animals, you will return for breakfast and check out. The journey to Nairobi will include a suitable meal and rest stop before drop-off at your preferred location.
