Book a 3-day Samburu wildlife safari with midrange accommodation, guided game drives, elephants, big cats and Kenya’s rare Special Five species.
Explore Samburu National Reserve on a three-day Kenya wildlife safari featuring carefully selected midrange accommodation and three rewarding periods of game viewing. Our guide will take you through dry savannah, acacia woodland and Ewaso Ng’iro riverine habitats while searching for elephants, big cats, prolific birdlife and the distinctive Samburu Special Five.
Our guide will collect you in Nairobi and begin the approximately 320–350 km journey to Samburu National Reserve, which normally takes 6–7 hours. As you travel north, the vegetation changes from green cultivated highlands to dry scrubland, thorn bush and acacia savannah. After lunch and check-in at your midrange accommodation, our safari begins with a 2–3-hour afternoon game drive. You will explore open plains and bushland while searching for Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, Beisa oryx, gerenuks, Somali ostriches, elephants and predators.
You will leave early for a 3–4-hour morning game drive through semi-arid grassland, acacia woodland and the dense riverine vegetation of the Ewaso Ng’iro ecosystem. Our guide will search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and rare northern species while explaining their behaviour and habitat adaptations. After returning to your midrange lodge for breakfast, lunch and rest, our safari resumes with a 3-hour afternoon drive through rocky outcrops, doum-palm groves and open savannah. Approximately 50–80 km may be covered during both drives, depending on wildlife movements and track accessibility.
You will take a final 2–3-hour morning game drive covering approximately 20–35 km through dry thorn scrub, acacia-dotted plains and riverine woodland. Our guide will revisit productive wildlife areas and search for species not encountered during the previous drives. After breakfast, you will leave Samburu and travel approximately 320–350 km back to Nairobi. The 6–7-hour journey passes through semi-arid northern landscapes, highland farmland and busy urban surroundings before your final drop-off.
