The tour begins with a 3-hour drive (180 km) from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will spend the day on the crater floor, which is a paradise for bird lovers. The alkaline Lake Magadi attracts thousands of Lesser Flamingos, creating a pink hue on the water. You will also look for the Kori Bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird, and the Grey Crowned Crane. A positive and unexpected moment often occurs at the picnic site, where Rufous-tailed Weavers might land nearby to scavenge. You will see various raptors like the Augur Buzzard circling the crater walls before heading to your lodge for the evening.

In the central Serengeti, you can find Fischer’s Lovebirds, which are endemic to Tanzania. You will also look for the Secretary bird hunting snakes in the grass. A highlight of this drive is often spotting a Verreaux's Eagle-Owl camouflaged in a large yellow-fever acacia tree. This is the best time to see birds of prey, such as the Martial Eagle and several species of vultures, as they begin their day. You will visit the swampy areas to find Malachite Kingfishers and various herons. After a late breakfast, you will start the long drive back to Arusha, covering 330 kilometers in about 7 hours. Along the way, you might experience the sight of a massive flock of Red-billed Queleas moving like a cloud across the sky. You will arrive in Arusha in the evening for your departure or an overnight stay.
