RELATED FAQS ABOUT 3 Days Tanzania Luxury Safari in February

Where is the best place to be in February?

The Ndutu region (the border between the Southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area) is the epicenter of the migration during this month.

    What is the "Calving Season?

It is a synchronized event where roughly 8,000 wildebeest are born every single day. This attracts high numbers of cheetahs, lions, and hyenas looking for easy hunts.

Is the Ngorongoro Crater good in February?

It is spectacular. The crater floor is lush and green, providing a stunning contrast for photography, and the resident rhinos are often easier to spot.

How is the weather in February?

It is one of the warmest months, with daytime temperatures around 28°C. It is mostly dry, though short, dramatic thunderstorms can occur in the late afternoon.

Should I fly or drive to Ndutu?

For a 3-day trip, flying is essential. Flying from Arusha directly to the Ndutu airstrip saves 6 hours of bumpy driving, giving you immediate access to the herds.

Are the roads muddy in February?

The Ndutu plains have alkaline soil that can become "sticky" after rain. Our luxury 4x4s use specialized wide tires and experienced drivers to navigate off-road safely.

Can we see the "Big Five" in February?

Yes. Between the Ndutu plains and a morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, your chances of seeing all five are at their highest annual peak.

What should I pack for the heat?

Lightweight linen or cotton clothing is best. However, don't forget a windbreaker for the early morning game drives, as the movement of the vehicle creates a chill.

Are there many predators in Ndutu?

Ndutu has the highest concentration of cheetahs in Africa during February. The open, short-grass plains are the perfect hunting ground for them.

Is this a good time for birdwatching?

It is world-class. European and North African migratory birds are present, and the alkaline lakes (like Lake Ndutu) are often pink with thousands of flamingos.
