As you descend into Serengeti, the landscape transforms into vast open plains dotted with acacia trees and rocky outcrops. Upon entering the park, you will begin your afternoon game drive, where you may encounter wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, elephants, and lions resting in the shade. January’s green landscapes support abundant grazing, attracting large herbivore herds and increasing predator activity. The experience is both calm and exciting as you explore the savannah. Upon arrival, you will descend about 600 meters into the crater floor, which covers approximately 260 square kilometers and supports a dense population of wildlife. During the game drive, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, hippos, flamingos, and possibly the rare black rhino, making it one of the best locations to see the Big Five. The crater’s unique ecosystem allows for excellent wildlife viewing within a relatively small area. After enjoying a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, you will begin your return journey to Arusha, covering approximately 180 kilometers through scenic highland landscapes. You will arrive in the late afternoon or early evening.
