Where is the Migration in June?
The herds are typically in the Central Serengeti (Seronera) and moving toward the Western Corridor. This is when they begin to gather for the dramatic Grumeti River crossings
How is the weather in June?
It is the start of the cool, dry season. Days are sunny and pleasant (23°C), but early mornings are cold (often below 10°C). Luxury lodges provide "bush babies" (hot water bottles) in your bed.
Is June good for seeing predators?
Excellent. As the grass thins out, lions, leopards, and cheetahs become much easier to spot. Predators also wait near the dwindling water holes for prey.
Will I see the river crossings in June?
You might see the Grumeti River crossing in late June. While not as famous as the Mara River crossing, it is equally intense and features some of Africa's largest crocodiles.
Is a fly-in safari necessary in June?
Highly recommended. Since the animals are moving fast, flying from Arusha to the Grumeti or Seronera airstrips ensures you spend your 3 days with wildlife, not on the road.
Are there many mosquitoes in June?
Very few. Because it is the dry season, the mosquito population drops significantly, though luxury lodges still provide full protection and high-end repellents.
Can I see the Big Five in June?
Yes. A 3-day trip combining the Central Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater is the most reliable way to tick off all five species during this month
What should I pack for June?
Warm layers are essential for morning game drives. A high-quality fleece, a scarf, and a hat will keep you comfortable until the sun warms up the savannah.
Is June a busy month?
It is the beginning of the high season. To ensure privacy, we select luxury lodges with large private concessions where you can view wildlife away from the crowds.
How clear is the air for photography?
June offers some of the clearest air of the year. There is very little dust or haze, making it the perfect time for high-definition landscape and wildlife photography.
