Celebrate Christmas on a 4-day Maasai Mara safari from Nairobi with festive midrange lodges, scenic drives and two full wildlife days.
Celebrate Christmas in the heart of Kenya’s wilderness on this 4-Day Festive Christmas Wildlife Escape to Maasai Mara. The package replaces an ordinary city holiday with open savannah, wildlife encounters, beautiful sunsets and relaxed evenings at a midrange lodge or tented camp. You will enjoy an afternoon game drive followed by two full days exploring the Maasai Mara. Depending on the exact dates and selected accommodation, your stay may include Christmas decorations, festive meals, music or a seasonal gathering. Our guide will manage the road journey and wildlife programme while helping families, couples, friends and solo travellers enjoy a memorable Christmas adventure.
Your Christmas safari begins with pickup in Nairobi before travelling approximately 270 kilometres to Maasai Mara, a journey taking around 5½ to 6½ hours. You will pass through the Great Rift Valley escarpment, farming areas, rural towns, pastoral zones and open savannah. Our guide will make suitable stops for refreshments, washrooms and scenic photographs. After arriving at your festive-season midrange lodge or camp, you will enjoy lunch and begin a 2½ to 3-hour afternoon game drive covering around 25 to 45 kilometres through grassland, acacia plains and seasonal water channels.
After breakfast, you will leave with packed lunch for an 8 to 10-hour game drive covering approximately 80 to 120 kilometres. Our guide will explore open plains, riverine forest, marshes and acacia savannah while searching for lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, cheetahs and other wildlife. Your Christmas wildlife journey includes a picnic lunch and unhurried observation time at productive sightings. When the day falls on December 25, the lodge may provide a festive dinner, decorations or entertainment according to its own programme.
Your second full safari day lasts approximately 8 to 10 hours and may cover around 70 to 110 kilometres. Our guide will explore different habitats to provide new wildlife encounters and scenery, including rolling grasslands, river corridors, marshland and short-grass plains. You will enjoy a picnic lunch and continue with afternoon wildlife viewing before returning to the lodge for your final festive evening in Maasai Mara.
Following breakfast, you will travel approximately 270 kilometres back to Nairobi, taking around 5½ to 6½ hours. The route changes from open savannah and pastoral land to highland farms, Rift Valley scenery and Nairobi’s urban outskirts. Our guide will include practical comfort and refreshment stops before dropping you at your hotel, airport or agreed destination.
