4 Days July Serengeti Migration Safari from Arusha During AFCON 2027

Your July Serengeti Migration safari during AFCON 2027 begins early in the morning when our professional safari guide meets you at your hotel in Arusha at approximately 5:30 AM. After a short safari briefing, you will leave the city and begin the spectacular overland journey toward Northern Serengeti, passing through changing landscapes, local communities, agricultural areas and the beautiful highlands of northern Tanzania. The journey takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before continuing toward Serengeti National Park, where the drive gradually becomes a wildlife-viewing experience as you enter one of Africa's most celebrated ecosystems. You will continue across the Serengeti toward the northern Kogatende region, stopping for a picnic lunch along the way while enjoying opportunities to see zebras, giraffes, elephants, gazelles, buffaloes, wildebeest and predators depending on their location. As you approach Northern Serengeti, our guide will begin looking for signs of the migrating herds and checking the latest wildlife movements around Kogatende and the Mara River. The afternoon will include game viewing as you make your way toward the lodge, offering your first chance to experience the vast landscapes and wildlife that make this region famous during July. You will arrive at your accommodation in the evening, enjoy dinner and relax in preparation for the following day's full migration adventure.

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will depart at approximately 6:00 AM for a full-day game drive across Northern Serengeti, with the main focus on following the Great Migration and exploring the wildlife-rich landscapes around Kogatende and the Mara River. Early morning is an excellent time to begin because predators may still be active and the cooler conditions allow you to cover important wildlife areas before the heat of the day. Our guide will use current information about the movement of wildebeest and zebra herds to select the most rewarding routes, which may include open grasslands, river valleys, woodland areas and recognized migration corridors. During July, large groups of wildebeest may gather around the northern plains and river system, and you may observe herds approaching the Mara River, moving along its banks or changing direction as they search for fresh grazing. If conditions are favorable, there may be an opportunity to witness river-crossing activity, although no crossing can be promised because the animals decide when and where to move. You will also search for crocodiles resting near the river, hippos in deeper pools and predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas that take advantage of the concentration of prey. A picnic lunch will be served at an authorized area so that you can remain in the park throughout the day, after which your game drive continues into the afternoon before returning to the lodge for dinner and relaxation. TANAPA requires vehicles to follow designated procedures around Mara River migration crossing points to protect both wildlife and the visitor experience.

Today provides another complete day in Northern Serengeti, giving you more time to follow the migration and explore areas that may not have been covered during the previous game drive. After an early breakfast, you will depart with our guide for another intensive wildlife experience, with the day's route determined by current herd locations, weather conditions and information from the field. The migration is constantly changing, so the wildebeest that were found in one location yesterday may have moved several kilometers by the following morning, making every day of this safari different. You may explore different sections of the Mara River, Kogatende plains, rolling hills, seasonal streams and rocky areas while searching for large wildebeest and zebra concentrations. If herds are gathering near one of the recognized crossing areas, your guide may spend additional time observing their behavior while respecting park regulations and maintaining an appropriate distance. Apart from migration viewing, you will have excellent opportunities to search for resident wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, topi, impalas, gazelles, warthogs and numerous bird species, while lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas provide exciting predator sightings throughout the region. Your picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the park before the afternoon game drive continues, allowing you to maximize your final full day in Northern Serengeti. Toward evening, you will return to the lodge with time to relax, enjoy dinner and reflect on the wildlife encounters experienced during two complete days of migration tracking.

Your final day begins with an early breakfast before departing Northern Serengeti for the journey back to Arusha. Before leaving the Kogatende region, you will enjoy a morning game drive that gives you one final opportunity to search for migration herds and resident wildlife as the Serengeti comes alive in the cooler morning hours. Depending on the location of the animals, you may encounter wildebeest and zebra groups moving across the plains, giraffes feeding among scattered trees, elephants traveling between feeding areas or predators returning from their early morning activities. You will then begin the scenic drive south through Serengeti National Park, enjoying additional wildlife sightings along the way as you cross different habitats toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A packed lunch will be enjoyed during the journey, after which you will continue through the highlands and onward toward Arusha. Arrival in Arusha is expected in the evening, where our guide will drop you at your selected hotel or another agreed location.
