4 Days Kenya Luxury Maasai Mara Scenic Road Safari from Nairobi

Our professional driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel, private residence or the airport before beginning the approximately 260–280-kilometre road journey to the Maasai Mara. The transfer normally takes five to six hours, although traffic, weather, road conditions and the location of your lodge may influence the arrival time. The journey introduces you to Great Rift Valley viewpoints, productive highland farms, busy roadside towns and the increasingly open landscapes of Maasai country. After breakfast, you will leave with a picnic lunch and explore approximately 60–100 kilometres of the Maasai Mara during a seven-to-nine-hour wildlife drive. The exact route will depend on current sightings, seasonal conditions and the accessibility of reserve roads. Attractions may include lion prides resting in tall grass, cheetahs using raised areas to scan for prey, elephants travelling with their calves, giraffes feeding in acacia woodland and large groups of wildebeest and zebras moving across open plains. You will also experience the varied landscapes of the reserve, from wide grasslands and distant hills to seasonal streams and riverine forest. Lunch will be served at an authorised picnic area before the afternoon game drive continues through another section of the reserve.

Your third day provides another approximately seven-to-nine-hour safari covering about 60–100 kilometres, giving you time to explore wildlife areas that may not have been reached during the previous day. The guide may focus on river habitats, quieter plains or locations where predators and large herbivores have recently been active. Possible attractions include hippos and crocodiles near waterways, hyenas and jackals searching for food, elephants gathering near water and large herds spreading across the savannah. During migration periods, seasonal concentrations of wildebeest and zebras may add further excitement, although exact movements are controlled by rainfall and grazing conditions. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the reserve before the afternoon exploration continues.
