Nairobi to Samburu – First Family Wildlife Adventure

Our friendly driver-guide will collect your family from Nairobi and assist with luggage before beginning the approximately 310–325-kilometre journey to Samburu. The five-and-a-half-to-six-and-a-half-hour drive passes through highlands, farming areas and changing northern landscapes, with suitable washroom, refreshment and stretching stops arranged for children and older relatives. After arriving at your family-friendly luxury lodge or camp, you will enjoy lunch and rest before an afternoon game drive. Attractions may include elephants, reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, gerenuks and lions, while the guide introduces younger travellers to the Samburu Special Five through entertaining explanations and wildlife-identification activities.

Morning and Afternoon Samburu Family Safari

Your second day includes two family game drives covering a flexible combined distance of approximately 40–65 kilometres and around five to six hours. The morning may reveal elephants near the river, giraffes feeding, colourful birds and predators resting after the night. You will return to the lodge for breakfast, lunch and relaxation before beginning a shorter afternoon safari through another part of the reserve. Children can continue identifying rare species, animal tracks and family behaviour, while the private vehicle allows the activity to be shortened if younger guests become tired.

Samburu Morning Drive – Family Transfer to Ol Pejeta

The family will enjoy a final Samburu drive of approximately 15–25 kilometres and around two hours before breakfast. After check-out, you will travel approximately 140–170 kilometres to Ol Pejeta Conservancy over three to four hours, with comfort stops provided when needed. The route introduces greener landscapes, ranch country and the Mount Kenya region. After checking in at your luxury accommodation, the family can relax and discuss Ol Pejeta’s conservation role, including rhinos and other protected wildlife. Any additional conservancy activity will depend on the confirmed package and arrival time.

Day 4: Ol Pejeta to Nairobi – Family Conservation Journey

Ol Pejeta to Nairobi – Family Conservation Journey

After breakfast, your family will check out and begin the approximately 210–230-kilometre return journey to Nairobi, which usually takes four to five hours. Wildlife may be observed along approved departure roads, and the guide can explain the importance of conservancies, endangered-species protection and responsible tourism. The drive passes highland farms, local communities and scenic countryside before a suitable lunch and comfort stop. Drop-off will be provided at your Nairobi hotel, residence or airport.
