Book a 4-Day Luxury Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru Photography Safari with private game drives, big cats, rhinos and premium accommodation.
Capture Kenya’s dramatic wildlife and landscapes on this 4-Day Luxury Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru Photography Safari from Nairobi. You will explore the open plains of the Maasai Mara in search of lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and large herbivore herds before continuing to Lake Nakuru National Park for rhinos, flamingos, pelicans and scenic lake views. Our professional driver-guide will position the private safari vehicle carefully whenever conditions allow, giving you excellent opportunities to photograph natural behaviour without disturbing the animals. Between game drives, you will stay at selected luxury lodges or tented camps offering premium accommodation, quality meals and comfortable places to review your photographs.
Approximate distance: 260–280 kilometres
Estimated driving time: 5–6 hours
Main attractions: Great Rift Valley, lions, elephants, giraffes and golden savannah light
Our professional safari driver-guide will collect you from your Nairobi hotel, residence or the airport before beginning the journey toward the Maasai Mara. You will travel through the Great Rift Valley and Kenya’s productive highlands, with suitable comfort and photography stops along the way. After arriving at your luxury lodge or tented camp, you will check in, enjoy lunch and prepare your camera equipment. The afternoon photography drive will focus on wildlife moving across the open plains, including elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras and antelopes. The warmer evening light may produce attractive wildlife portraits, landscapes and silhouettes before you return to the lodge for dinner.
Estimated game-drive coverage: 60–100 kilometres
Photography time: Approximately 7–9 hours
Main subjects: Lions, cheetahs, elephants, wildebeest and Mara landscapes
After breakfast, you will leave with a picnic lunch for a full day of wildlife photography. Our guide will search for productive areas while using tracks, animal calls and recent sighting information to plan the route. Because your vehicle is private, you can wait for better light, improved composition or interesting animal behaviour without following a shared group schedule. You may photograph lions resting in the grass, cheetahs scanning the plains, elephants travelling in family groups and large herds of herbivores. Lunch will be enjoyed at an authorised location before the afternoon photography session continues. You will return to the luxury lodge for dinner and overnight.
Approximate distance: 230–250 kilometres
Estimated driving time: 4½–6 hours
Main attractions: Mara countryside, Rift Valley highlands, Lake Nakuru scenery and birdlife
You will enjoy breakfast, check out and begin the journey from the Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru. The route passes through rural settlements, agricultural areas and scenic highland landscapes. Safe photography and comfort stops may be arranged according to the day’s timing. On arrival, you will check in at your luxury lodge, enjoy lunch or refreshments and relax after the road journey. Depending on arrival time and lodge location, you may photograph birds, landscapes or wildlife around the property before dinner.
Morning game-drive distance: Approximately 25–50 kilometres
Distance to Nairobi: Approximately 155–165 kilometres
Estimated travel time: 3–4 hours of game viewing and 2½–3½ hours to Nairobi
Final attractions: Rhinos, flamingos, pelicans, Rothschild’s giraffes and lake scenery
Your final morning begins with a photography game drive inside Lake Nakuru National Park. The guide will search for white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, baboons and predators while also exploring productive birding areas. Depending on water levels and seasonal conditions, you may photograph flamingos, pelicans and other waterbirds around the lake. After the game drive, you will begin the journey to Nairobi, with lunch or refreshments arranged along the way. Drop-off will be provided at your hotel, residence or the airport.
