Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu – Your Private Northern Kenya Escape

Meet your dedicated driver-guide at JKIA or your Nairobi accommodation between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. Before departure, the guide will confirm the route, comfort preferences and emergency contact procedure. Travel 310–330 km through Thika, Karatina, Nanyuki and Isiolo, allowing approximately 5½–6½ hours before extended stops. A secure refreshment pause will be arranged along the way, and solo travellers can request brief photography stops where it is safe.

Arrive at a premium Samburu lodge or tented camp around 1:00 p.m. for check-in and lunch. After time to settle into your private room, depart at approximately 3:30 p.m. for a three-hour game drive. Day 2: Samburu – Flexible Morning and Afternoon Game Drives

Quiet Morning Discovery

Begin with tea or coffee and leave at approximately 6:15 a.m. The 2½–3-hour drive searches riverine woodland and open country for Samburu's northern species, elephants, antelopes, predators and birds. You may ask questions freely and spend longer at suitable encounters, provided reserve rules, animal welfare and the day's route allow.

Return around 9:15 a.m. for breakfast. Premium camps offer a comfortable place to relax without being isolated, and the guide or lodge team remains available for practical assistance. Have lunch around 1:00 p.m. and rest during the warmer hours.

Farewell to Samburu

Leave at around 6:15 a.m. for a final two-hour wildlife drive. With no group schedule to negotiate, your guide can choose a route that reflects your interests while preserving the transfer plan. Return for breakfast, check out at approximately 9:30 a.m. and confirm that luggage, documents and valuables are secure before departure.

A New Laikipia Landscape

The journey to Ol Pejeta covers 130–160 km and usually takes three to four hours through Isiolo and Nanyuki. Arrive for a late lunch, check in and begin an afternoon introductory game drive. Search the grasslands and acacia bush for rhinos, buffaloes, elephants and plains wildlife while learning about conservation and land management. Sightings depend on natural conditions. Continue to your premium accommodation before dark for dinner. Your guide will confirm the Day 4 pickup and Nairobi drop-off details.

Conservation Morning

Breakfast is served at approximately 6:30 a.m. After check-out, take a final game drive that may include the northern white rhino area when accessible and the public morning session at Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The private format allows questions and unhurried interpretation, although access, animal position and viewing time remain subject to conservancy operations.

A Clear Journey Home

Have lunch at about 12:30–1:00 p.m., then start the 210–230 km drive to Nairobi. Allow four to five hours under ordinary conditions and more when traffic is heavy.
