4 Days Midrange New Year Safari Offer: Mara

Our New Year safari offer begins when our guide collects you from Nairobi for the approximately 260–280 km journey to Maasai Mara. The road transfer takes about 5–6 hours through cultivated highlands, Great Rift Valley scenery and open grass country before entering the reserve’s savannah and acacia woodland. After checking into your midrange accommodation, you will begin the holiday with a 2–3-hour afternoon game drive in search of lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes and plains wildlife.

You will spend approximately 7–9 hours exploring Maasai Mara’s short-grass plains, riverine woodland, acacia bush and seasonal wetlands. Our guide may cover around 80–120 km depending on wildlife movements while searching for predators, elephants, buffaloes and herbivore herds. You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the reserve before continuing the drive. The lodge’s New Year meal or entertainment will depend on its confirmed holiday programme.

After breakfast, you will travel approximately 230–250 km to Lake Naivasha in around 5–6 hours. The route moves from Mara savannah and thorn bush into Rift Valley farmland, volcanic scenery and the lake’s papyrus-and-acacia environment. After check-in at your midrange lakeside property, you can relax and enjoy the remaining festive atmosphere or the lodge’s available New Year activities.

You will take a 1-hour boat safari covering approximately 5–10 km along Lake Naivasha’s open water and papyrus shoreline. Hippos, fish eagles, pelicans and other waterbirds may be encountered before a 1½–2-hour Crescent Island walk covering roughly 2–4 km through lakeshore grassland and acacia woodland. You will then travel approximately 90–100 km to Nairobi in around 2–2½ hours.
