4 Days Premium Mara Wings

Join a 4-day premium Maasai Mara and Lake Naivasha birding safari with raptors, waterbirds, private drives and luxury accommodation.

Discover Maasai Mara raptors, open-country birds, iconic wildlife and Lake Naivasha’s rich waterside habitats.

Our 4-Day Premium Mara Wings & Lake Naivasha Waters Safari combines two contrasting birdwatching environments with classic Kenya wildlife viewing. From Nairobi, you will travel privately through the Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara, where an afternoon safari and a full-day game drive introduce you to open grasslands, riverine woodland and broad skies used by raptors, vultures, bustards, cranes, rollers, storks and many smaller savannah birds. Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest and antelopes may also be encountered during the birding drives. On Day 3, your journey continues through Narok toward Lake Naivasha, where the quiet lakeside landscape creates a refreshing contrast to the Mara plains. Your final morning may include a guided boat safari, birdwatching session or Crescent Island nature walk when confirmed in your package. A private vehicle, premium accommodation and patient guiding provide flexibility for binocular use, bird photography, identification and checklist notes.

RELATED FAQS ABOUT 4 Days Premium Mara Wings

    1. Why combine Maasai Mara and Lake Naivasha for birdwatching?

The two destinations offer very different habitats. Maasai Mara provides open grasslands, riverine woodland and broad skies that support raptors, vultures and savannah birds, while Lake Naivasha adds waterbirds, fish eagles, kingfishers, herons and shoreline species. Combining them creates a more varied birding experience within four days.

    2. Is this package suitable for experienced birdwatchers?

Yes. Experienced birders can request greater focus on identification, habitat variation, bird behaviour and photography. The private vehicle allows the guide to spend more time in productive areas and to avoid following a standard general-wildlife route.

    3. Can beginners join the safari?

Yes. Beginners can learn to identify birds using size, shape, colour, calls, flight pattern, habitat and behaviour. Our guide will explain the process patiently without assuming that every guest already knows bird names or terminology.

    4. Are binoculars provided?

Travellers are encouraged to bring personal binoculars because magnification, weight and comfort preferences vary. Rental binoculars may be requested in advance but remain subject to availability and should not be assumed to be included.

    5. Is a specialist bird guide included?

The standard package includes a safari driver-guide with birding knowledge. A dedicated ornithologist or specialist bird guide may be requested at an additional cost, depending on availability and travel dates.

    6. How many bird species will we see?

No fixed number can be guaranteed. The final checklist depends on season, weather, habitat conditions, water levels, observation time and natural bird movement. The emphasis is on careful observation rather than promising an unrealistic species total.

    7. Will we also see large mammals?

Yes. Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes and other wildlife may be encountered during the birding drives. The guide will allow you to enjoy important mammal sightings while maintaining the birdwatching theme.

    8. Is the Lake Naivasha boat safari automatically included?

The boat activity is included only when listed in the confirmed quotation. It may be adjusted, delayed or cancelled when wind, rain or water conditions make boating unsafe. An alternative birding or nature activity may be discussed when appropriate.

    9. Can the safari focus on bird photography?

Yes. A private vehicle provides more flexibility for long lenses and patient observation. A beanbag or monopod is generally easier to use inside the vehicle than a large tripod, while a lightweight tripod may be useful around the lodge or during approved walking activities.

    10. Can the birding itinerary be extended?

Yes. Lake Nakuru, Lake Baringo, Kakamega Forest, Samburu or another birding destination can be added. A longer itinerary increases habitat diversity and provides more time for careful identification and photography.
