Book a private 4-day midrange family safari from Nairobi to Maasai Mara and Lake Naivasha with game drives, boating and comfortable lodges.
Take your family on a private four-day midrange safari from Nairobi to Maasai Mara and Lake Naivasha, with flexible game drives and comfortable family-friendly accommodation. Children and adults can enjoy big-game viewing, a full day on the Mara plains, a guided boat safari and a Crescent Island nature walk with the personal attention of our guide.
Our guide will collect your family from Nairobi for the approximately 260–280 km drive to Maasai Mara. The journey normally takes 5–6 hours, although family rest stops may extend the travel time. You will pass through highland farmland, Rift Valley scenery and rural grassland before reaching the Mara’s open savannah and acacia woodland. After lunch and check-in at your family-friendly midrange accommodation, our safari continues with a relaxed 2–3-hour afternoon game drive in search of elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras and antelopes.
Your family will spend approximately 7–9 hours exploring Maasai Mara’s grasslands, acacia woodland, riverine forest and seasonal wetlands in a private vehicle. Our guide will help children identify wildlife and understand animal behaviour while adjusting the pace when necessary. Approximately 70–110 km may be covered depending on wildlife locations and the family’s comfort. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in a designated area before continuing the game drive and returning to your midrange camp.
After breakfast, your family will travel approximately 230–250 km to Lake Naivasha in around 5–6 hours. The journey moves from dry Mara savannah into cultivated Rift Valley farmland, volcanic landscapes and greener lakeside vegetation. Safe refreshment and washroom stops will be provided when required. After checking into your midrange lodge, the family can relax and enjoy the papyrus-fringed shoreline and lodge surroundings.
Your family will take an approximately 1-hour Lake Naivasha boat safari covering about 5–10 km, with life jackets and guidance from the boat crew. You may observe hippos, fish eagles, pelicans and other waterbirds from a safe distance. The experience continues with a 1½–2-hour guided Crescent Island walk covering roughly 2–4 km through grassland and acacia woodland inhabited by giraffes, zebras and antelopes. Afterwards, our guide will drive your family approximately 90–100 km to Nairobi in about 2–2½ hours.
