Experience a 4-Day Samburu Special Five and Ol Pejeta Rhino Luxury Safari with private wildlife drives, rare species and premium accommodation.
Experience two remarkable northern Kenya wildlife destinations on this 4-Day Samburu Special Five and Ol Pejeta Rhino Luxury Safari. Samburu National Reserve provides opportunities to search for Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, Beisa oryx and Somali ostriches, together with elephants, lions, leopards and rich birdlife. You will then travel to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a destination associated with rhino conservation, open grasslands and diverse wildlife. Your private customised vehicle and professional driver-guide provide flexible wildlife viewing, while carefully selected luxury lodges or tented camps offer premium accommodation, excellent meals and personalised service.
Our professional guide will collect you from Nairobi and drive approximately 310–325 kilometres to Samburu National Reserve, a journey normally taking five and a half to six and a half hours. The route passes through central Kenyan highlands and gradually changes into the drier northern landscape around Isiolo. After arriving at your luxury lodge or tented camp, you will enjoy lunch and begin an afternoon game drive. Attractions may include Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, elephants, lions and Somali ostriches, introducing you to the rare species and rugged scenery that distinguish Samburu from Kenya’s southern reserves.
Your second day includes two game drives covering approximately 45–75 kilometres and around six to seven hours in total. The cooler morning will focus on open scrubland and river areas where elephants, giraffes and rare northern animals may be active. You will return to the lodge for breakfast, lunch and relaxation before beginning an afternoon drive through another section of the reserve. The guide will continue searching for all five northern species together with lions, leopards, buffaloes, hyenas and colourful birds. Routes will remain flexible because animal distribution changes with water, temperature and vegetation.
You will begin with a final Samburu drive of approximately 15–30 kilometres and two to three hours, providing another chance to locate any Special Five species not previously seen. After breakfast and check-out, you will travel roughly 140–170 kilometres to Ol Pejeta Conservancy over three to four hours. The landscape changes from semi-arid bushland to cooler ranch country and open highland plains. After arriving at your luxury accommodation, you will enjoy lunch or refreshments and receive an introduction to the conservancy’s rhinos, elephants, buffaloes and other wildlife. Additional activities will depend on arrival time and the confirmed programme.
After breakfast, you will check out and begin the approximately 210–230-kilometre journey to Nairobi, generally requiring four to five hours. Depending on lodge location and the authorised exit route, you may enjoy final views of conservancy wildlife while departing. Ol Pejeta’s open landscapes, rhinos, elephants and conservation setting provide a contrasting conclusion to the rare dry-country animals of Samburu. A lunch, refreshment and comfort stop will be arranged before final Nairobi drop-off.
