4 Days Samburu and Ol Pejeta Luxury Educational Safari for Students

Students and authorised group leaders will be collected from an agreed Nairobi location before travelling approximately 310–325 kilometres to Samburu. The five-and-a-half-to-six-and-a-half-hour journey introduces central Kenyan highlands, agriculture, urban growth, pastoral landscapes and the transition into a semi-arid environment. After arriving at the selected luxury lodge or tented camp, students will check in, enjoy lunch and receive a safety briefing before beginning an afternoon game drive. Attractions may include Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, gerenuks, elephants and lions, while the guide explains animal adaptation, habitat use and the importance of water in dry ecosystems.

The second day includes morning and afternoon field sessions covering approximately 40–70 kilometres and around six to seven hours. Students may observe elephants near the river, rare herbivores feeding in dry scrubland, predators using shade and birds occupying different habitats. Discussions can focus on animal adaptation, predator-prey relationships, food chains, water competition and responsible tourism. Between the two drives, students will return to the lodge for breakfast, lunch, rest and optional note review before continuing with the afternoon study.

Students will begin with a final Samburu observation drive of approximately 15–25 kilometres and around two hours before returning for breakfast and check-out. The group will then travel approximately 140–170 kilometres to Ol Pejeta Conservancy over three to four hours. During the transfer, the guide may discuss land use, ranching, agriculture and differences between semi-arid and highland ecosystems. After arrival, students will check in at their accommodation and receive an introduction to rhino conservation, conservancy management and tourism’s role in wildlife protection.

After breakfast, the group will check out and begin the approximately 210–230-kilometre journey to Nairobi, normally taking four to five hours. During departure through authorised conservancy areas, students may observe rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, zebras and grassland birds while discussing endangered-species protection, monitoring and community partnerships. The return route through highland farms and towns provides further opportunities to compare protected areas with surrounding human landscapes. A suitable lunch and comfort stop will be arranged before arrival at the agreed Nairobi location.
