4 Days Serengeti Migration Safari in November

The herds are usually moving from the north to the south during this month. Most travelers spend time in the Northern and Central Serengeti to catch the moving columns. This allows you to see the transition of the wildebeest as they head toward the fresh grass in the south.

November marks the start of the short rains in Tanzania. These rains are typically brief afternoon showers that do not disrupt game viewing. They actually help settle the dust and turn the landscape a beautiful emerald green.

We usually keep the group size small to ensure everyone has a window seat. Most vehicles carry between four and six passengers. This gives you plenty of space for your camera gear and binoculars.

Lions and leopards are very active as they follow the moving herds. Since the wildebeest are on the move, predators stay close to find easy targets. This makes for exciting sightings as you drive through the central and northern tracks.

It is possible to fly from the Serengeti back to Arusha to save time on the final day. This option adds an extra cost but allows for a final morning game drive. Many guests prefer this to avoid the long drive back on the highway.

You should pack light clothing for the warm days and a medium jacket for the cool mornings. A waterproof light jacket is also helpful for the occasional afternoon rain. Neutral colors like khaki or beige are best to avoid attracting insects.

You have a very high chance of seeing lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards. The rhino is the most elusive member but is sometimes spotted in specific areas of the park. Our guides work hard to track these animals during your daily game drives.

By November, most of the herds have already crossed the river into Tanzania. You might see late groups making the crossing, but the main action is usually earlier in the season. The focus in November is the southward movement across the open plains.

All meals are provided from the time you start the tour until you return to Arusha. This includes breakfast and dinner at the lodge and a packed lunch for the bush. We also provide bottled water in the vehicle throughout the day.

Most lodges and permanent camps offer Wi-Fi in the common areas. However, the signal can be slow because of the remote location of the camps. It is a good chance to disconnect and enjoy the natural environment.
