5 Days July Serengeti Migration Safari from Arusha During Afcon 2027

Your safari begins early in the morning when our professional guide collects you from Arusha and drives south-west toward Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania's most rewarding wildlife destinations during the dry months. After completing park entry procedures, you will begin a full-day game drive through landscapes dominated by giant baobab trees, open savannah, riverine woodland and the life-giving Tarangire River. July falls within the dry season, when wildlife increasingly gathers around permanent water sources, creating excellent opportunities to observe large elephant families, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, impalas, warthogs and numerous antelope species. Predators including lions, leopards and spotted hyenas may also be encountered while searching for prey around the river valleys and open plains. Our guide will explore productive areas such as the Tarangire River loops, baobab country and surrounding grasslands, stopping at suitable viewpoints and wildlife concentrations throughout the day. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed inside the park before continuing with an afternoon game drive, giving you a full and rewarding introduction to Tanzania's Northern Circuit before the journey toward Serengeti begins the following day. Tarangire is particularly known for its elephant concentrations, baobab landscapes and seasonal wildlife movement around the river system.

After breakfast, you will depart the Tarangire area and begin the scenic journey toward Serengeti National Park. The route passes through northern Tanzania's diverse landscapes, including rural communities, agricultural areas and the dramatic Ngorongoro highlands before descending toward the endless plains of the Serengeti ecosystem. As you enter Serengeti National Park, the transfer gradually becomes a game drive as wildlife begins appearing across the grasslands and woodland corridors. You will continue toward the Seronera region of Central Serengeti, famous for year-round wildlife concentrations and particularly strong predator viewing. During the afternoon game drive, our guide will explore the Seronera River Valley and surrounding plains in search of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and numerous gazelles. Central Serengeti provides an important transition point on this itinerary because the migration can vary from year to year according to rainfall and grazing conditions, and July herds may be spread between western, central and northern sectors as they continue moving toward the Mara ecosystem. Your afternoon game drive therefore combines excellent resident wildlife viewing with the first opportunity to look for signs of the migrating herds before heading farther north the following day.

Today is one of the major highlights of your July migration safari. After an early breakfast, you will leave Central Serengeti and travel north through changing landscapes while enjoying a full-day game drive en route toward Northern Serengeti. Instead of treating the journey simply as a transfer, our guide will use the day to follow wildlife activity and search for wildebeest and zebra herds moving through the northern migration corridors. The route may pass through open plains, rocky kopjes, woodland and river valleys while gradually approaching the Kogatende and Mara River region. July is an important transition period for the Great Migration, and herd locations vary with rainfall and fresh grazing; some herds may still be moving through western areas while leading groups can already reach Northern Serengeti. As you continue north, the chances increase of seeing large wildebeest columns, zebras and accompanying predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards and spotted hyenas. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the park before the afternoon game drive continues around the northern plains and migration corridors. By later afternoon, you will concentrate on the Kogatende region and areas around the Mara River, positioning you well for the following day's extended migration experience. After an early breakfast, you will begin another intensive safari day in Northern Serengeti, allowing valuable morning time to search for the wildebeest migration around Kogatende, the northern plains and the Mara River ecosystem. Our guide will use the most recent wildlife information available to locate herd concentrations and productive game-viewing areas, since migration movements can change quickly according to rainfall, grazing and river conditions. You may encounter thousands of wildebeest and zebras gathering on the plains, moving in long columns or approaching river areas, together with predators that follow the migration in search of hunting opportunities. Crocodiles and hippos can also be seen around sections of the Mara River. If wildebeest gather near a recognized river crossing point, viewing will be carried out according to Serengeti National Park regulations designed to give wildlife sufficient space and minimize disturbance; a river crossing itself can never be guaranteed because it depends entirely on natural herd behavior. After spending the morning and part of the early afternoon exploring the northern sector, you will begin the game-drive journey south toward Central Serengeti, continuing to search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and other wildlife along the way. Arriving in Central Serengeti later in the day gives the safari a natural southbound progression and positions you well for the final journey toward Ngorongoro Crater.

Your final safari day begins very early in Central Serengeti, allowing you to enjoy the changing morning landscapes as you travel southeast toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Wildlife can still be encountered along the Serengeti route, giving you one final chance to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and other animals before leaving the national park. On reaching the Ngorongoro highlands, you will continue to the crater rim and descend approximately 600 meters onto the crater floor for a rewarding half-day game drive. Ngorongoro Crater supports an exceptional concentration of wildlife within a relatively compact area, and you may encounter large herds of buffaloes and zebras, wildebeest, hippos, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas, jackals and numerous bird species around the grasslands, woodland and wetlands. Depending on luck and animal movements, the crater also provides an opportunity to search for the highly endangered black rhino from a respectful distance. You will enjoy your picnic lunch at a designated site before completing the crater game drive and ascending the crater wall. From there, the journey continues through Karatu, Mto wa Mbu and the Great Rift Valley landscapes toward Arusha, where our guide will drop you at your agreed location in the evening, marking the end of your 5-day AFCON 2027 July migration safari.
