Embark on the most challenging part of the trek, starting between midnight and 2 a.m. Ascend in a switchback pattern, facing scree and possibly snow, until you reach Gillman's Point on the crater rim. Take a short rest and witness a breathtaking sunrise. Push forward for about 1 more hour to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend back to Kibo Huts for lunch and a brief rest before continuing to Horombo Hut. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
