An Excellent Birding Journey through Two Habitats

    5/5

The Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru produced a much stronger bird list than I expected from a five-day safari. We experienced grassland, riverine, woodland and lakeshore habitats, and the guide gave every species proper attention rather than focusing only on large mammals.

    Knowledgeable Guide and Patient Identification

    5/5

Our guide identified birds by call, behaviour and habitat and explained the differences clearly. He was patient when we needed time to confirm a species and helped us understand why certain birds occurred in one area but not another.

Raptors and Savannah Birds Were Outstanding

    5/5

We observed several raptors, secretary birds, rollers and hornbills during the Mara drives. The wide landscapes made it easier to watch hunting behaviour and flight patterns, while the guide positioned the vehicle carefully for photography.

    Lake Nakuru Added Wonderful Waterbirds

    5/5

Lake Nakuru provided a completely different birding experience after the open Mara plains. Pelicans, cormorants, herons and other lake species expanded our checklist, and the rhinos and giraffes added even more interest to the morning drive.

Birding and Big Game in Perfect Balance

    5/5

My partner enjoys mammals while I prefer birds, and this package worked for both of us. We could stop for smaller species without missing lions, elephants, giraffes and rhinos. The private format allowed the guide to balance our interests naturally.

    Excellent Bird Photography Opportunities

    5/5

The vehicle provided good space for telephoto lenses, and the guide understood the importance of remaining still. I photographed rollers, raptors and lakeshore birds in several lighting conditions and returned with a diverse collection of images.

More Than a Simple Species Checklist

    5/5

The guide connected birds with vegetation, mammals, weather and seasonal ecology. This approach created a deeper understanding of both destinations instead of reducing the safari to counting species. It was educational and enjoyable.
