Celebrate on a 5-Day Luxury Christmas Safari to Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru with private game drives, festive hospitality, big cats and rhinos.
Celebrate Christmas among Kenya’s wildlife on this 5-Day Luxury Christmas Safari to Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru. The private festive journey begins with an afternoon game drive and two complete wildlife days in the Maasai Mara, where you may see lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes and large herds. You will then continue to Lake Nakuru for rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes and colourful birdlife. Selected luxury lodges or tented camps may offer Christmas decorations, seasonal dining and festive hospitality according to their programmes. The package is ideal for couples, families and private groups seeking a meaningful holiday surrounded by wilderness and premium comfort.
Our driver-guide will collect you from Nairobi and begin the approximately 260–280-kilometre Christmas journey to the Maasai Mara. The transfer normally takes five to six hours, although festive traffic, road conditions and comfort stops may affect timing. The route passes Great Rift Valley viewpoints, highland farms and Maasai countryside. After arrival at your selected luxury lodge or camp, you will check in, enjoy lunch and settle into the property’s festive atmosphere before an afternoon game drive for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras and savannah scenery.
After breakfast, you will celebrate with a seven-to-nine-hour wildlife drive covering approximately 60–100 kilometres. Your private guide will search for lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and grazing herds while allowing your party to enjoy sightings without a shared-group schedule. A picnic lunch will be served inside the reserve before the afternoon exploration continues. You will return to the lodge for a Christmas dinner or seasonal programme arranged by the property.
Your third day includes another approximately 60–100-kilometre safari lasting seven to nine hours. The guide may explore river habitats, open plains or quieter wildlife areas according to recent sightings. Attractions may include hippos, crocodiles, elephants, hyenas, jackals and additional big-cat encounters. The private vehicle allows couples or families to spend longer at memorable sightings before enjoying a picnic lunch and continuing through the afternoon.
After breakfast, you will travel approximately 230–250 kilometres to Lake Nakuru over four and a half to six hours. The drive passes farms, rural communities and scenic Rift Valley highlands. If your confirmed accommodation is inside the national park and the entry arrangements allow, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive for rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes and birds. Otherwise, you will check in and enjoy the festive atmosphere of your luxury accommodation.
The final morning includes a three-to-four-hour game drive covering approximately 25–50 kilometres. Possible attractions include white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons and seasonal waterbirds. After the drive, you will travel approximately 155–165 kilometres to Nairobi over two and a half to three and a half hours, with a meal and comfort stop before final drop-off.
