Welcome the year on a 5-Day Luxury New Year Safari through Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru with private drives, premium lodging, big cats and rhinos.
Welcome the New Year with adventure, wildlife and refined comfort on this 5-Day Luxury New Year Safari through Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru. The private journey provides an afternoon Mara game drive followed by two complete days of wildlife exploration for lions, elephants, cheetahs, giraffes and large grazing herds. Lake Nakuru completes the experience with rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes and beautiful Rift Valley birdlife. Selected luxury properties may provide seasonal dining, room decorations or New Year hospitality according to their programmes. The safari is suitable for couples, families, friends and independent travellers seeking an inspiring beginning to a new chapter.
Our guide will collect you from Nairobi and begin the approximately 260–280-kilometre journey to the Maasai Mara. The transfer usually takes five to six hours and passes Great Rift Valley scenery, agricultural highlands and Maasai countryside. After checking in at your luxury lodge or tented camp and enjoying lunch, you will begin an afternoon game drive. Attractions may include lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and antelopes moving through the savannah before you return for dinner and any seasonal hospitality offered by the property.
After breakfast, you will depart with a picnic lunch and explore approximately 60–100 kilometres over seven to nine hours. Your guide will search for big cats, elephant families, buffaloes, wildebeest and zebras while selecting routes according to wildlife movement. The private vehicle allows you to enjoy sightings at a relaxed pace. Lunch will be served at an authorised picnic area before the afternoon drive continues through another part of the reserve.
Your third day provides another seven-to-nine-hour safari covering approximately 60–100 kilometres. The guide may visit riverine habitats, quieter grasslands or areas recently used by predators and large herds. Attractions may include hippos, crocodiles, elephants, lions, cheetahs, hyenas and seasonal wildlife concentrations. The open landscapes create a peaceful and inspiring setting for reflection and new beginnings.
After breakfast, you will travel approximately 230–250 kilometres to Lake Nakuru over four and a half to six hours. The road passes Maasai countryside, highland farms and Rift Valley settlements. If your accommodation is inside the national park and arrival and entry arrangements permit, you will enjoy an afternoon drive for rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes and birds. Otherwise, you will check in and enjoy the seasonal atmosphere of the lodge.
Your final morning includes a three-to-four-hour Lake Nakuru game drive covering approximately 25–50 kilometres. Possible attractions include white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, baboons and lake birds. After the drive, you will travel approximately 155–165 kilometres to Nairobi over two and a half to three and a half hours. A meal and comfort stop will be included before final drop-off.
