Experience a 5-Day Maasai Mara Big Game and Lake Nakuru Rhino Luxury Safari with private drives, premium lodging, predators, elephants and rhinos.
Experience Kenya’s famous predators, plains wildlife and rhinos on this 5-Day Maasai Mara Big Game and Lake Nakuru Rhino Luxury Safari. The itinerary provides an afternoon Mara game drive followed by two complete days of exploration, creating excellent opportunities to search for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeest and zebras. You will then continue to Lake Nakuru National Park for white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, baboons and diverse birdlife. A private customised vehicle and professional driver-guide provide flexible viewing, while selected luxury lodges or tented camps offer elegant accommodation, quality dining and attentive service.
Our safari driver-guide will collect you from Nairobi and travel approximately 260–280 kilometres to the Maasai Mara over five to six hours. The route passes Great Rift Valley scenery, agricultural highlands, towns and Maasai pastoral landscapes. After arrival at your luxury lodge or camp, you will check in, enjoy lunch and begin an afternoon game drive. Possible attractions include elephants crossing the plains, giraffes feeding near acacia trees, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes and lions becoming active in the cooler evening conditions.
After breakfast, you will leave with a picnic lunch and explore approximately 60–100 kilometres over seven to nine hours. The guide will search for areas used by lions, cheetahs and leopards while also watching for elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, giraffes and large grazing herds. Attractions may include lion-pride interactions, cheetahs scanning for prey or elephants protecting their calves. Lunch will be enjoyed at an authorised location before the afternoon search continues.
Your third day includes another seven-to-nine-hour drive covering approximately 60–100 kilometres through habitats not fully explored the previous day. The guide may visit riverine areas for hippos and crocodiles, open plains for wildebeest and zebras or woodland used by elephants and predators. During migration periods, seasonal herds may create additional wildlife activity, although exact movement cannot be guaranteed. A picnic lunch will be served inside the reserve before the afternoon game drive continues.
After breakfast, you will check out and travel approximately 230–250 kilometres to Lake Nakuru over four and a half to six hours. The journey provides scenic views of highland farmland, Rift Valley landscapes and local settlements. If your accommodation is inside the national park and entry timing permits, you will take an afternoon game drive in search of rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, baboons and birds. Guests staying outside the park will check in, relax and prepare for the morning wildlife experience.
Your final morning drive covers approximately 25–50 kilometres over three to four hours. The guide will explore woodland, grassland and lakeshore habitats while searching for white and black rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, predators and waterbirds. Flamingos and pelicans may be observed depending on seasonal conditions and lake levels. After the game drive, you will travel approximately 155–165 kilometres to Nairobi over two and a half to three and a half hours before final drop-off.
